It appears JW favours a loan move to Crystal Palace. Not too much upheaval with regards to family life which may have been a consideration in his decision making. All to be confirmed still.

Is it not precisely the opposite David? JW desperately wants to play but knows he is not going to get many (if any) opportunities this season ... Arsene does love buying those midfielders.

For some reason Arsene has a habit of holding onto players without much of a future at the club for much longer than he should. We can all name players both past and present being paid fortunes but contributing nothing. Is it pride on the managers part? A reluctance to admit that he got things wrong? Sheer bloody mindedness? Who knows but I wonder if this loan is as a result of JW insisting that he wants to leave simply to get the opportunity to play regularly.

If he wasn't in the managers plans why on earth haven't we just cut our losses and offered him for outright sale?

Gnabry sold to Werder Bremen. On one hand the squad has been trimmed slightly and that's welcome, on the other there are several other players I'd much rather have seen the back of first. Having said all that, I get the feeling this one was more driven by the player.

Shame as I thought a European club would have suited him better so he builds up his match sharpness slowly.

Weird decision. He probably went there because his good friend Benik Afobe's there. He should have stepped out of his comfort zone.

There does seem to be some evidence that he wanted to go to Roma but the club wouldn't let him. Apparently we (or maybe, just maybe, it's the one person) are upset about their behaviour earlier in the transfer window when we enquired about one of their players!

Imagine, someone at the club being petty enough to hold grudges like that? It's impossible to believe isn't it?

He will be working with the next Arsenal manager.

At least with Bournemouth he should have more playing time. Going to Roma or Milan they have much bigger squad's he would have been further down the pecking order.

I'm pleased he chose Bournemouth and I hope he stays injury free.

He would have learned so much more playing with quality midfielders. At Bournemouth he'll get playing time, but will be in a dogfight to stave off relegation.

I'm not quite sure what to make of JW joining Bournemouth on loan. I do think it would have been more beneficial to move to Roma if he could have done but it may have been out of his hands. Yes he will get more game time but he may get frustrated (with all due respect to Bournemouth) playing with dare I say lesser talented players week in week out. I guess it will give him the opportunity to make a real go of it and it may bring out the best in him. He's got a good manager in Eddie Howe and that's a plus but it will be a bit of a culture shock for him, both on and off the pitch I expect. I just hope he can stay injury free and be a success down there.

We needed a striker, a central defender, and a tough tackling midfielder, and we got all three, plus a few more players.

Not a good window at all. A ok one not good. We needed a world class striker and a world class signing to lift the team. Got neither. We needed another Lb a left footed Midfielder and Another RB.

Lets not say Asnano kwelichi are great signings either. Still it will have to do.

An utterly average window really. But that's good by Wenger's standards these days.
A couple of good signings (Xhaka and Mustafi) and a promising one for the future (Holding), until he gets all of his ability and enthusiasm Wengered out of him anyway.

And a punt on a striker who was linked with clubs of the level of Everton and Palace.

Nothing there at all to take us from perennial Champions League qualifiers to the next level.
This season will be no different to any of the last 5.

It was anything but a average window tbh. Was it the greatest? No but it could have been much worse.

Happy With Mustafi and Granit. Both A pluses on what we needed.
Perez has been likend to Vardy, only time will tell.

Without these signings we'd have finished out the top 4 now you feel we may finish in it.

Those two are definitely ones for the future but as to whether they will be good or not, who knows?
I remember a few years back, especially when he joined we all used to laugh and get annoyed at Kos as he always seemed to have a comedy own goal in him, now look at him He looks much better.
