Good luck to Jack Wilshere at Bournemouth. It gives them a little boost for when they play against our rivals.

A bit early to say whether it's been a good window or not. I am generally happy though with the business we have done. Compared this time to last year when we only had Cech as the only in-coming player. I think we have to accept that we ain't going to get the stellar £50-£90M players for the most part but that's not to say there aren't some decent players in the cheaper end of the market. The landscape has changed. I mean we had to pay £35M or so for a centre half that most of us had never heard of prior to the Euros. Overpriced? Who know's? And 17M for a striker, it could turn to be a bargain. Anyway, figures, schmigures...it's what they do on the pitch that counts.

I think he did look into a big name in Griezmann - but the player didn't want to move at the moment for family reasons. I think we would have been prepared to pay the big bucks if he had been agreeable to a move. But we definitely spoke to him as he said so himself. He said he spoke with Wenger during the Euros, and Wenger asked him if he'd fancy it, but he said he has a young family who are settled in Spain at the moment, and he doesn't feel the time is right.

Not sure if that falls under tapping up.

Fair points. Tbh id like to see Akpom and Iwobi and Jeff used more this season. Now we have 5 good Cb's tbh and 3 good Dms we always needed. Just wish we had a great striker. Oh well Theo time to step up.

In terms of whether this was a good window it will be judged at the end of the season. At least there is no nobody's available bollocks to listen to. Lucas Perez is a punt time will tell if he is good enough or not. Make no mistake being turned down by Vardy is a humiliation. The time wasted on Mustafi was stupid and nearly cost the club but at least we got him over the line.

As for singing Greizmann I wouldn't object although if I could have anyone from Atletico Madrid it would be Simeone.

In a previous post I mentioned that whilst I was frustrated about signings, they were not the overall problem. The main issues were tactics, organisation and psychology of the players. Its up to Wenger to finally change that. The Manchester clubs and Chelsea will be a lot better this seasons and the title race will be a lot harder.

What can you do if clubs do not want to sell or players do not want to come.

In a world where Bolasie and Sissoko went for 30m I don't hold much hope for a 17m striker who scored just 9 goals in the Greek league a couple of years ago.

Man U, City and Chelsea had much better ones and concluded a lot of their business earlier to ensure a settled squad. But I guess they have ambitious and excellent managers who still want to win things. We have a squad good enough to to maybe scrape top 4 & not progress far in CL, same as the past 5+ seasons.

We bought some players, so what - nothing will really ever change until we get rid of Wenger.

Id not say Wenger does not want to win things, he is happy not too imo. Lets be honest Pep and Jose have to win the league because of expectancy that comes with their reputation. Same with Conte he has to win it or we know what Ambromovich will do. Until we get a new ambitious board nothing will change regardless who their manager is. 4th will still be Stan and Ivans Aim. I guess the footballing side of things will be different.

I don't believe the Griezmann stories, sorry. He's at a club that won the league ahead of Barca and RM not long ago and has reached 2 CL finals. We are a million miles from a CL final right now.

Thing is it wasn't a story that fully emerged in the press. Money does talk however - look at Pogba moving from a club that won the treble, almost beat Bayern and are consistently in the CL to one that ended up fifth.

Could have tempted him on the wages front as Atletico can't compete with the English teams financially.

Surprised Jenkinson/Debuchy are still in the squad and they didn't go anywhere during the window.

It represents more of a gamble to Bournemouth for their financial outlay in securing Wilshere for the season. I don't see it as a gamble at all for Wenger. We didn't miss him last season. He's way down the pecking order and it saves the club a fair bit of wedge in wages. Wilshere has made a ton of money for so little in return. Wenger has stood by him with the injuries, the smoking and stuff. Now it's time for Jack Wilshere to knuckle down, and repay the faith shown in him by Eddie Howe and his chairman.

Jenks is still injured though isn't he?

Jenkinson is currently injured, or he's recovering from an operation, something like that anyway. His loan spell at West Ham was terminated last season once he got injured and returned to Arsenal. Debuchy, I am not so sure about but guess he's available if needed.
