The return of Debuchy to the starting line up, and Wenger finally drops his golden boy as Xhaka and Elneny start in midfield.
I'd have started Elneny and Xhaka last week and give Rambo the start today, but hey ho, what do I know??

It would be nice if we pushed on instead of letting it get to 2-2 as usual.

Relieved with the third. Thought it was all pointing towards 2-2 for a while.

Not a bad November compared to previous seasons. Hopefully we can kick on now with a run of wins.

Good weekend overall with the Spuds losing their unbeaten run and a 4 point gap opening up.

The 4th place trophy is ours for the taking, again.

Of course- but even more so when he signs his new contract.

Nice to see Wenger being ruthless for once yesterday and completely axing the utterly average Jenkinson from the squad altogether.
Never has been and never will be good enough.

Hopefully he will sign, been hearing "rumours" from his agent about joining the Chinese Super League or some crap like that

Any obvious reasons why this tie has been thrown by playing a reserve side

Because Wenger doesn't take the EFL Cup seriously.

Daft thing they meet Southampton in the league on the weekend of the final so it still might need rearranged anyway

Was always going to be a tough ask to beat Southampton with a reserve team out- we've struggled to beat them in the past with first teamers.

Saying that we've carried on in the same vein of form in that we lack creativity and are unable to create decent chances. Predictable, slow buildup lacking width and variation in our play all endemic of a Wenger team off form.

Ramsey had a shocker in his preferred no 10 position always looking to shoot when in good positions or pass backwards. On this evidence you can see why Wenger persists with playing him on the wing instead.

Felt sorry for Lucas as he had zero service in his first game back from injury.

AW doesnt care about the League Cup then
Next week in our CL game whether we win 5-0 or 1-0, it doesnt change anything, but we had to win this game and played a reserve team. Disappointing

The stance is all the more stupid with being scheduled to meet Southampton on final weekend as I said earlier.

So playing a reserve side might ultimately mean a game will be rescheduled anyway which is a stupid stance to take

Southampton didn't exactly have their first 11 out either.

The simple fact is we were awful. The team we put out was good enough to win that - but they decided to play like a Sunday league team. It shouldn't matter what competition it is, you should want to win every single game and I just didn't see than from anyone in our team last night. That's what is disappointing.
