Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger: "We were not convincing offensively or defensively. I knew it it could be a tricky game, if you can't win the game, make sure you don't lose it.
"The players were maybe too nervous and put too much pressure on themselves. "Today we have been hurt mentally and it is a good opportunity to respond." Nervous players?!!. Really, come on Arsene. Please don't treat us like idiots. Pressure! Against West Ham at home. |

Just got home from The Emirates.
Gotta say the players looked like they thought if they turned up it would be easy. I think they are still on pre season believing all the hype about how they will challenge for the league. Hopefully this result will be a kick up the Arse, can't underestimate any team in this league. Palace will be no push over on their own patch, will be interesting game. Was gonna say it's good to be back,is it ?. |

Think Wenger gets a little blinded by how we finish the seasons when the pressure is off because we are out of the title race. Players aren't so tense and can perform. We need to be at it from the off. Draws were a problem too. Palace will be up for this. They are a much improved team. We sleep walk into this game at our peril.

Just watched the highlights on MOTD. You have to wonder is Wenger tactically inept?
West Ham played a diamond to nullify our central midfielders coming inside all the time. Instead of using the width out wide to exploit where the space was, he didn't change tactics. Even after the game it didn't seem like he knew why we lost blaming the players instead of his tactics. It shouldn't take watching the tape after the match to see what was wrong. |

It's how we react in the next game. This might be a blip but we can be easily frustrated and can see many more games like this, maybe not always ending in defeat but frustrating none the less. |

On MOTD2 Danny Murphy was saying we played far too narrow.

We were not very good at all yesterday. Sluggish, passes going too long, too short or wide of or behind the runner. Too many players thinking they can walk the ball past the opposition without being tackled. Not physical enough. Not determined enough. Many players drifted in and out of the game or didn't show up at all. Silly mistakes in defence, poor final balls and flimsy shots up front. Struggling to think of one player who played even half decently.
So basically, things can only get better. Oxlade Chamberlain is a bit of an enigma. He drifts in and out of almost every game he plays in. You get five minute spurts of brilliant pace and dribbling of almost Messi-esque quality, then he disappears for twenty minutes. Anyway, onwards and upwards. |

Still very quiet on the transfer front. Not a lot of rumours really either. Hopefully there is a player or two on their way in this window.

Can see the club playing a waiting game for Benzema right up until the end of the transfer window seeing as there is less than 3 weeks to go until the deadline.
Will be disappointed if we don't land a top striker- without one I don't think we have enough to challenge. |
