The Primark socks will have one good season and then be bought by the Barcelona manager.
When his wife asks why he bought the cheap socks he can claim he 'tried' for the M&S ones. |

Rumour is Wenger is ready to break the bank for a new purchase,
He's lined up a new pair of socks to wear whilst refereeing a charity football match tonight, he's admired these socks for a long time and they are 'super quality' from M&S. Quote:
However, at the same time he's also seen a pair in Primark which are a quarter of the price and which he thinks have good potential for the future. Never mind that they might be a bit thin, are a different size than he needs and totally inappropriate for the charity match tonight he thinks everyone will admire his cleverness and sock buying ability when they are 'super quality' in a few years.
![]() Jokes apart, I just refuse to believe Wenger won't sign anyone. No. I'm going to go to work today with nice and fuzzy feeling that we will be pleasantly surprised come 12 midnight tonight.

If we can't buy or attract top talent anymore don't make fans pay super ticket prices or pay the manager a super salary.
Moving to the new stadium and having money in the bank won't score goals, win you titles if you have no ambition to catch up and compete with the super clubs. Radical overhaul required. |

So lads it's that time of year again, we've signed almost nobody and our hopes have all but faded. Massiour Arsene Wenger is in Paris apparently to sign 'Cavani' which is doubtable when none of the negotiating team from Arsenal are there with him.
Massiour Arsene Wenger had the ENTIRE summer to sign a top striker, a holding midfielder and hasn't... I have lost all hopes now.

I think if we get anyone now it will be a loan.
I have a feeling we will get nobody else. |

Aren't we lucky to have him as our manager? |

There are many reasons why Arsene Wenger would be in Paris. The most obvious being that he's French.
There is so much baloney put out by the tabloids and internet journalists. I wouldn't believe any of it. |

The suggestion this afternoon seems to be that despite having travelled to Paris to negotiate the transfer Arsene (and stop me if you've heard this before) is unwilling to pay the £50m it would cost to get hold of Cavani. So potentially, despite the club rolling in money, despite a minimal transfer outlay this summer and despite television revenues having more than tripled in the last couple of years alone, Arsene is still counting the pennies.
Still it's the mark of genius to leave the deal until the last few hours of the transfer window when the selling club has you over a barrel with no room to negotiate. Aren't we lucky to have him as our manager? Its good hes so careful with the money and im sure hes just as conservative when he negotiates his own contract. I'm sure he wouldn't be one of the highest paid managers in football considering he can't identify how to improve his squad. |

Probably in Paris to have a rest after all the 'hard work' he has been doing.

Of course. How dare I consider that our extremely well paid manager spend the last day of the transfer window working on behalf of the club to acquire the reinforcements his squad clearly needs.
Probably taken his wife shopping! |

People get upset and annoyed that we didn't get this or that player, when the reality is that we may never have been in for them in the first place.
I'm not annoyed by losing out on Cavani, I'm annoyed (but not surprised) at yet another year wasted as we fail to push on from where we finished last year. A couple of our rivals appear to be stumbling at the moment and are we well placed to take advantage? Nowhere close! |

That's entirely true but I'm sure even you said the squad needed two or three new players earlier in the summer ... so while we may never have been in for Cavani that still doesn't excuse his utter idleness during the last couple of months.

But when it comes down to it, I'd rather we either sign a top class player or not sign anyone at all. Very disappointing, but if we can't do it we can't do it. |

He is blinded by his own ego that he for years hasn't brought in essential players we desperately need, example; A striker, holding-midfielder etc |

Diddly. Not even a whisper (or a Kallstrom). Our main rivals have done £400 million worth of transfers and we can't find a single outfield player to improve us.
There's no striker out there in this little world we live in that is better than Giroud. ![]() I swear I will party for a week the day this man leaves our great football club. |

€70m for Cavani is way, way too much. I don't blame our club at all for shying away from that - if we were in for him in the first place.
