It's an example of Wenger underestimating the opposition again. Same happened against Monaco when he didn't send the team out to treat the opposition seriously. He just doesn't learn from his mistakes. Neville was right when he called him arrogant. There comes a time when blind belief equates to incompetence.

By all means rest Bellerin and Ramsey but don't rest even more players by fielding your FA Cup/league cup defence.

This. Its Wenger's arrogance rearing its head once again. He talked about taking the game seriously and he goes and does this. If that was a El game then fine mske changes but nit Cl away games ffs. Now team moral will be down for sunday, then for cc game with spuds.

This is a big blow because unlike seasons before we were never going to top the group, Now its going to be a struggle to finish 2nd imo.

Maybe dropping into the El is better for us anyway.

Spot on. You could understand if we were at home and you make changes but to do it away because if Chelsea is silly.

Wenger talking out of his arse as usual, nothing is his fault.

No wonder Jose Mourinho calls him a "specialist in failure" and rightfully pointed out that some clubs (Arsenal) reward their manger with new contracts by coming 3-4th and not winning the league in 10+ years. As much as I hate Jose Mourinho but I have to agree with him because it would never be allowed at any other top level clubs like MUFC, MCFC, Chelsea, Real Madrid or even Barcelona etc.

+1, spot on on all points. Have to say that Gabriel (and Ozil) did OK, but Gibbs, Ospina and Debuchy starting as well was madness. Really missed Coq as well, but the ref was awful and they did get quite a few off sides wrong.

Biggest disappointment of the night (apart from ODL) was Giroud, who missed a sitter and got sent off because he's stupid... Anyone with a brain could see that sending off coming.

The 62nd minute changes weren't even that bad, at least it wasn't the typical 70th minute like for like change and showed a desire to win the game. Just a shame that we had to rely on Campbell when chasing the game... he's not very good...

Says alot that we missed Coq when he only burst into the team last season by accident. Arteta is past it, everyone can see that apart from Wenger; the only reason I can think of why he persists with him is due to him being the club captain. It's not putting the team or the club first at all.

Why take the Ox off for Campbell? Not like he's going to start against Chelsea as Ramsey will come back, about time Ox had more 90 minutes under his belt rather than pre-empting that he will get injured if he plays the full game!

Campbell offered more in 20 odd minutes than Chamberlain has for about 2 seasons. Again he was at fault for a goal conceded as well.

I don't get the "hype" over Chamberlain at all, his numbers are appalling from an attacking standpoint and is responsible for a fair few goals at the other end. But hey, at least he's English right...

When you think that Pedro, a Champions League and World Cup winner was available for 20 million as well... Good god.

How on Earth Arteta managed to get himself another contract I'll never know either.

Oh well it could be worse. I find with Arsenal it's best to keep a level head, then you can manage the disappointment.

How can it could be worse? Losing to a Carling Cup level team.

With away games to the Bridge and The Swamp coming up, it may well get worse!

He is bang on. Feel for him and guys like your fella who for out loads of money to watch this drivel. I am sorry but Ivan and the board have been in the prem for a while now. If they were ambitious they'd give Aw his cards. Its not acceptable any more and i have had enough.

I can't get too worked up about the CL anymore as far as Arsenal are concerned. I will follow the games on the web/radio but that's all. It's all so utterly predictable and tedious.

Arsenal have never won at the Bridge with Mourinho in charge and I'm not expecting that to be any different tomorrow.

Wenger says there will be no "cheap excuses" if we fail to get a result on Saturday and he aims for "full power" from us.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34291163

From the sounds of it he will set up like usual and won't play the way we did against City last year which imo is the perfect way to approach these away games against the top four teams.

We'll see how the game pans out. A draw will be a good point, just not sure Wenger sees it that way.

I just hope we don't leave gaps in the defence when we go forward leaving us open. Swansea, Palace and Everton played on the counter to good effect against them. We should play the same especially if Terry plays for Walcott to exploit his lack of pace.

Yeah, but he has developed an ability over the years of saying something at one press conference and then completely changing his tune at the next one and never getting called out for it.

Does anyone doubt that when we get beaten tomorrow one (or more) of these will be deployed by him?

- It's unfair that Chelsea had a home game on Wednesday while we were away
- We had a long flight back on Thursday morning and unfortunately were still tired
- We were nervous / not up for it / complacent / slow to start / lacked mental strength
- It was my fault that the team was badly prepared and the squad not strong enough

Ok, maybe not that last one

Definitely not the last one

I just hope we don't play with the handbrake on.

Wednesday game was pathetic. OK the ref was also biased but Giroud was a hothead, Ozil was poor (in the first half at least), and we missed so many chances (again).

Wednesday showed that an injury to coquelin would be terrible and that upfront we are severely lacking.

This was evident to all months ago but Wenger chose not to buy even though he knew the extent of the welbeck and Wilshire injuries.

I'd rather stick chambers as DM instead of Arteta.

What was Wenger doing making Arteta captain when he hadnt played for months? Think Chech should have been our keeper not Ospina, sadly

Win today and we're title contenders.

Draw and we're in with a chance.

Lose and we're scrapping for 4th again.
