It really comes to something when West Ham play better football than Arsenal.

Yes, well done West Ham. Certainly have more balls about them and can take their chances in the big games!! Quote:
Fed up of the season already. Nothing changes. I'd agree there seem to be far too many players going through the motions these days. We don't look like scoring most of the time. No improvements in our defensive organisation. I just genuinely believe it's time for AW to move on. It's all too stale and predictable.
Same mistakes keep happening time and time again. I like the look of Gabriel, the biggest problem however is the poor conversion rate by the midfielders/strikers. Wenger can buy all the players he wants but in this system they are wasteful. Sick and tired of knowing how the season will pan out. |

It was time for him to move on five, six years ago. Same mistakes keep happening time and time again. I like the look of Gabriel, the biggest problem however is the poor conversion rate by the midfielders/strikers. Wenger can buy all the players he wants but in this system they are wasteful. Sick and tired of knowing how the season will pan out. Really and truly we should look at selling Ozil and Santi both clearly do not want to be here. Ramsey seems to have been a ine season wonder. Sanchez not sure whats happend to him. Maybe he wants out as well or we r seeing why Barca sold him(maybe). Kos gas gone back to being poor/off form. Wenger should have brought in players just to pick up the players we have. |

No they don't play better footie then we do, they just get the basics right and play with a lot of heart. Credit to them they have beat us, Pool and City all in our back yards.

Our season is over! Nothing has changed, in actual in fact it only has got worse.
...oh wait it's not even October yet so there's a pretty good chance we might win some games...probably lose some as well and potentially win something like we have done for the last 2 seasons...we're less than 10 games in dude...

We just haven't got going this season. No momentum. One step forward, two steps back and so on. The paucity of goals is a real concern. The midfield isn't weighing in and the forwards or forward that should be (whoever that may be on the day) is squandering what chances comes their way. We pose no threat from corners. A reluctance to shoot. Safe square and back passes. It's all so predictable.

We haven't played effective football in the Premiership for around a decade. And by effective I mean providing a proper challenge.

That does not mean West ham play better football than us. We have played beautiful stuff over the years. Ok so we did not win things but is that down to the quality of how we play or tptb not doing their best to get us to the next level.

As for beautiful football, people are harking back to the days of Henry and Pires. There has been a lack of beautiful football for a while. |

So we play worse football than West Ham? I agree are football has been flat and our passing has been poor, however i do not think its been a decade since we have paid great footie. I mean if its so bad why pay to go watch tripe? I mean the current squad is ok, we just do not play well as a team as oppose to having a good few players.
like i said if the footie is so bad why are we watching it? Personally I don't pay to go anymore, I think I've only been to 2-3 games in the past 2 years - but we still watch on TV or whatever because we're Arsenal fans. |

I guess the main difference for me between now and our title winning teams is the way that we could look after ourselves and not get bullied unlike this team. Keown, Adams, Bould, Winterburn and Campbell wouldn't take any shit. Bergkamp for all his grace and style could also dish it out when needed. Compare that with Ozil who looks like he can be knocked over with a feather. And of course PV4 and Petit were something else. We just don't have the same physical presence any longer and that togetherness in that if one player was picked on then rightly or wrongly the likes of Keown and PV4 would get stuck in too. Don't see any of that now.

Also as we have exactly the same outfield players as last year, a real familarity about our play, so no new season curveballs for other teams to figure out. Up front I like Walcott but in some games you don't know he is on the pitch, and Giroud is also decent but very in and out. His head goes down so easily when he is on a bad run as he is now. And of course Welbeck has been Wengered and will be injured until the 12th of Whenever. So it's no wonder we don't score many these days. If only some of those profits announced midweek had been spent on the team eh? |

I have just seen the assault on Kos by the animal and I am appalled. If the FA don't punish De Costa retrospectively then I give up.

I've just finished watching Keane & Vieira Best of enemies. I never saw it when it was on
Watching Vieira control the midfield & organise everything makes you realise what Arsenal are missing. A Leader. Well spoken, tough, always gives his best & hates losing. Vidal is the only current player who I think would fit the bill. Shame Wenger is short sighted and didn't get him in the transfer window. Vidal & Vieira wouldn't have put up with Costa's s**t yesterday. |

The difference is that the game has become too heaviily weighted in favour of strikers, because people attend football matches to see goals. They get a greater degree of latitude than was the case when Keown, Lauren and Ruud v N were dusting it up, back in the day.
Back then, neither or both players would have been sent off. Costa will inevitably (I think...) be banned retrospectively for his three assaults on Kos (one each?!) The only shame is that i can't see a way to make it for more than three games, unless they find a way to do him for the subsequent dive in the Gabriel incident. It's amazing that every time you think that Chelsea can't sink any lower as a club, with Jose now trying to justify this sh1t, they somehow manage to achieve it. None of this detracts from the car crash in progress which they undoubtedly are. You can decorate a turd wth a flower but it doesn't make it a rose. |

What will be will be as far as any retrospective punishment is concerned. That's if they see fit to look at it all again. Nothing surprises me anymore when it come the FA and their post match scrutinising. I am not confident any action will be taken with the Kos incident if the officials have already seen it and acted accordingly. They may have missed the chest barge if that's what it was but will just have to see what comes out in the wash.
The whole incident has pretty much over shadowed the defeat as I thought it would. |

But they haven't played good stuff week in, week out like before. And there is an inevitably of when they turn up the style: against the bottom-half clubs when the season is over and medals are handed over. The football style has changed considerably too. It's nice to reminisce how great Vieira was back then, but he would've got sent off yesterday. He had a hot temper, and the refs these days don't seem to give the benefit of the doubt. But he had conviction. He was a great footballer, as was Campbell, Adams, Dixon, Petit, et al. They meant business. This team, not so much. So many passengers and lightweights. All mouth, no trousers. Can't exactly take them seriously when they go out and say "We've learnt from our mistakes", when they clearly haven't. What's concerning is the pattern of Arsenal games. You know how it'll start and finish because we've seen it all before. Can't really say two big games are never the same. Arsenal will squander so many chances before the opposition score with their first chance, usually on the counter. |
