Fantastic news about Gabriel, I think he is terrific.
I reckon Mertesacker can expect an awful lot of bench time this season.

Coquelin injured. Injured knee. Looks like Mertesacker will get a game.

Gabriels 3 match ban has been overturned..still faces a possible one match ban for misconduct. i think he will take it.
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footba...-match-6493993
BBC are saying that the ban for misconduct is 3 matches and the ban for a red was also 3 matches?
I thought it was only a three match ban if it was a straight red, which it wasnt

If Gabriel had stayed on the pitch and Costa was sent off the result may have been different. A 3 match ban for Mike Dean is needed.

Arsenal overturned the 3 game ban by proving that gabriel made no contact with costa.

Mike Dean needs to be stripped of his bloody whistle - useless ****.

Well done Arsenal!

Now, players, referees (hopefully) and opposition fans are onto Costa. He's going to find things tough now at most grounds and rightfully so.

I agree Tiron, let's hope the crowds don't give him a minutes peace next time he starts his nonsense.

Yes, well done Arsenal and I hope Gabriel gets off relatively lightly on Thursday. Costa is such a cheat, is there anything he wouldn't do to win? As for the 3 game ban, he should have got another 3 for fooling the referee.

It was a straight red.
Which surely he couldnt get because he was on a yellow already, so how does that work?

Players can still get a straight red at the discretion of the referee if he decides it's an act that deserves it. It shouldn't have been, but it was.

Then the decision is correct.

I hope referees keep a closer eye on that idiot Costa now. He regularly throws elbows etc. when he gets frustrated at being marked closely.

I'm very surprised that Gabriel has had his ban overturned I actually thought he deserved a red.

Not feeling very confident about tonight. We should have a full strength team out for it though and after two defeats we should be really up for it.

I seriously doubt that. Coquelin is out for a start and Wenger never takes this cup seriously anyway. If Spurs motivate themselves I think we'll be in trouble.

Even if Wenger doesn't take tonight seriously and puts out a second string, it's never nice losing to that lot - if nothing else it gives them an excuse to bring out a DVD or a commemorative plate!

I imagine the spuds will put out a 2nd string too.

Should be an interesting game, with some of our rising stars on show.

No rookies starting tonight. Wenger said quite a few of them are out on loan and a few others he's not sure they are ready for such a match. Anyway the starting XI is...

Ospina, Debuchy, Mertesacker, Chambers, Gibbs, Arteta, Flamini, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ramsey, Campbell, Giroud.

Strange that Cech, Monreal, Bellerin and Walcott are being rested again so soon after the CL game last week.
