Don't worry guys, this team will get out of the competition and focus on qualifying for the competition next season.

I can imagne AW saying something similar.
Cech should have started FFS

I don't see the fuss myself. Liverpool and Tottenham will make a hatful of changes to their side , for their European matches this week and nobody will give a monkeys. Plenty of supporters will be glad of it.

Typical Wenger spin and rhetoric in the press conference.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger: "It is still possible of course to qualify but it is difficult to swallow losing a game like that. We lost it on a lack of defensive concentration and bad luck. They had four shots on goal and we conceded three goals.

"The turning point at 2-2 is we give them a goal again straight away. If it stays 2-2 for five minutes we win the game.

"A goalkeeper can make a mistake that doesn't explain that we lose the game. It happened to Petr Cech already this season [against West Ham]."

Heard it on 5 Live.

Air of "How dare you question my judgement" and "I don't have to be held accountable for my decisions". Very tetchy and defensive.

Nothing surprises me about him anymore. He could defend a 10-0 thrashing and make it sound good. As ever he is the star of Arsenal. Win, lose or draw, it has to be about him.

Watching the third goal, absolutely shocking that no player commanded the defence. No organisation. This may stem from the manager but these are experienced players on show.

Yes but playing in the EL and CL are to different comps. So u can do it i the EL as some teams are not great.

So he is trying to justfy dropping Cech by bringing up our opening game. What a muppet just take the blame and man up ffs. Its embaressing.

Agreed...we are never going to win the thing anyway, the goal is to qualify each season. Get the pounds in the bank and fill the stadium. Unless people stop going (which won't happen) or Stan sells nothing will change

.
This is why the club never learns. No one comes out and takes responisibilty, from owner to player. Nothing will change under The board/Wenger. They are all one in the same.

Those changes will contribute towards the champions league places being cut to three.

Then suddenly people will give a monkeys

Sadly you're right. No matter what happens he's there until he decides to leave - and only Wenger himself knows when that will be. We could and probably will all be having this same conversation in 5 years time.

This, English clubs tend to take the P in Europe. Once it catches up with us then we will cry especially us.

Nope...we will just get 3rd or better. That's when the chequebook will truly be unleashed.

Lets just dust ourselves off and accept we wont ever win the CL under Wenger, and wont qualify ever again the way things are going.

Until we improve our home form we will keep struggling. You can tell the Emirates is not a fortress. The fans are getting disintersted seaskn by season and its affecting the team.

Im sure if 4th us still there, we'd find somreway to qualify. However i think this season we may actually struggle to.

Funnily enough Aw seems to have given up on the CL in favour of the league. Maybe he knows he has no chance and wants out quickly, to focus on league.

Can not say i am upset about last nights result though.

I'm livid at the lack of seriousness that our manager treated Olympiakos and our need to get three points from the fixture. To have not played our best team in this game, where we needed a win, like leaving out Cech, is disgraceful. I'm usually one who although critical of Wenger, does feel that what he gave us in the past makes me uncomfortable with such criticism, but uneasiness has now ended with this shambles of a game.

So, we've gone from a group where we were confident of going through, albeit in second place, to a position where it's more likely we'll be on our arses. Thanks for treating the Champions League games with the seriousness they deserve, Arsene. I'm sure it won't affect our overall confidence...

Calm blue ocean... Calm blue ocean... Calm blue ocean...

Wenger is given huge resources by Kroenke who, it has to be said, has never taken funds from the club. I firmly believe there are enough managers in world football who could do much MUCH more with what we already have that means sticking with ODL is the main problem we are facing. With someone competent in charge we could do far far worse in terms of owners. At the moment we are a club desperately in need of change, of a fresh attitude and a new approach.

You're right about the money though. If we do end up finishing fourth in the group (which I'm sure we will) that is going to be felt in financial terms. It will increase the pressure on Arsene if nothing else.

If the only way to get Champions league football in England would be to win the premier league i guarantee that we would win the league every single year

Yep, stale is the word I use. Kroenke did take money last year didn't he for "consultancy services" about £5m I think. I think that was the first time he took money out.

it needs freshening up as all we see is the same thing happening over and over again. The players are much better than the results and performances we get. Everything appears to be too comfortable and it needs a shake up.

Kroenke has take payments from the club though, £3m in each of the last 2 years I believe for advisory services or something daft like that.

I agree with you about other managers being able to get more out of our players than Wenger is able to do.

In years gone by we have been able to say how shrewd he was in the transfer market, that he was good tactically, a great motivator and probably plenty more positives that are hard to back up now.

It's madness that we don't adapt in the bigger games to impact the opposition, countless times we have gone into big games and just not started with the dreaded handbreak on and after a while that's got to go back to the manager. His stubbornness in the transfer market in the past 5-6 seasons has been more than a little annoying but this past summer might actually be the most annoyed I have ever been, after signing Ozil and Sanchez the previous two summers I really got my hopes up that we were getting serious but to once again leave ourselves 2-3 signings away from a genuine title winning team/squad is ridiculous. The signs of madness are repeating the same mistakes time and time again and that's exactly what Wenger is doing.

I stand corrected although I'm not sure that has much of an impact on the point I was trying to make. In comparison to the rest of the business £5m is still relatively minor. If the amounts involved increase though I'd agree it's an issue.

Seems like the only reason we pushed the boat out to get Ozil and Sanchez was to aim for 3rd seeing as we're likely to lose the 4th place gets CL to Italy.

There comes a time when the board will have to say enough is enough - qualifying for CL every season isn't enough for a club as big as ours.

No, your points are perfectly valid. We have Kroenke junior on the board as well don't we? All of those in control seem perfectly happy so I don't see things changing. AW will leave when he wants to and that's it really.
