Surely we can compete with them now our finances are healthy especially if we're not burdened by FFP and being an attractive club for giving young players a chance let alone a London club unless he wants to leave for a bigger wage packet. My gut feeling is he just wants to be the best player he can be playing in the CL which also means being given playing time.

I'd be annoyed if we lost out to the rich clubs over these sorts of players now.
He's not going to United. At least not while he's at Liverpool.

I think it's just wanting to go back to London, and Arsenal are the best bet. QPR won't be able to afford to get him back, Chelsea won't want him, and he won't get the playing time he'll want, and I don't know about Spurs but if ambition is part of his desire to leave then they're not much of a step-up.

If he wants to play for you then you'd do well to get him, and I can't see why it wouldn't happen.

At the moment he's favourite to sign for City. If he goes there it will well and truly be for money.

I can see City wanting him for the homegrown quota. Especially if they can't get Milner to agree to a deal.

Not that fussed about him tbh. We have more pressing needs than Sterling imho.

We do but I reckon we haven't scored enough goals this season and that has contributed to us not getting closer to the top. Sterling will help our attack with taking on players which our midfielders lack. Walcott still goes on his blind alley runs. Pace can only take you so far.

Gotta keep raising the bar at Arsenal,Sterling is a good young player but I want a world class striker.
After getting Ozil & Alexis Sterling would be a step backwards.
On a different note I watched the Liverpool Palace match on Saturday and was very impressed with Bolasie, reminded me of a young Ian Wright & what a player he was.
I would prefer a world class striker with Bolasie as under study.
At the start of this season who really thought Bellerin would have such a fantastic season.

Sterling is a young footballer who can be moldled into a really good player if he gets the right manager.

It wouldn't surprise me if Wenger does put a bid in. If it's true Sterling wants to go to London, it's either Chelsea or Arsenal.

I can still see him going Man City though.

Comon Joe. Sterling would be a backward step and yet you'd like Bolasie? Can't you see how contradictory that sounds even if Bolasie's had some good games this season? He's like a slightly better Sanogo

As I said mate Bolasie as under study to a new world class striker.
Sterling to big headed and gready now treating Liverpool like shit.Rodgers treated him like a son and now he has turned on him.

Terrible finishing. Hope they don't nick one on the break.
Surprised Alexis is playing as he looks tired and his passing is really off.
An upgrade on Giroud in the summer please!

Think Alexis should have been rested.
We've dominated but no end product.

This game has an air of Swansea about it.

Frustrating! Sunderland have parked the bus but can hardly blame them considering their situation. Time after time we are trying to thread it through the middle. Very easy to defend against. The odd occasion it has gone wide but we haven't made the most of it. Awful shooting. Some nice passages of play with fancy flicks but always breaking down. Would def take Sanchez or Ozil off sooner rather than later.

We can be exceedingly frustrating to watch at times. As said above too many times trying to pass through the middle. Awful shooting and you get the feeling we are always likely to concede one on the break.

Bring on Theo for another lucky deflection? We've forgotten how to score goals.

When DID we last score from a corner???

Finally,some width!

I wish somebody would just **** the ball at goal instead of this constant plinky- plonking it around.
