What's the point of BGMT?

I understand that the main BGT show is a highly edited entertainment programme for peak Saturday night viewing offering a blend of auditions, back stories, judges' interaction and some light-hearted banter from Ant and Dec. To simply show back-to-back auditions for the whole show might get a bit tiresome. However it's now stretched to the point there are very few auditions shown and for me it's quite short too as I fast-forward through the filler.

Given that hundreds of acts are auditioned and presumably filmed, what happens to all that footage? It would make sense to make an ITV2 show where anyone interested in the many auditions not deemed entertaining enough for the main show could be seen. But no, instead we're treated to an hour of banal clowning around by that idiot Mulhern and even fewer auditions per programme than the main show.

Is it time for Britain's Got Even More Talent?

I think its simply awful and I gave up on it ages ago.

Yeah im the same. Stephen Mulhearn never used to bother me either way but lately Ive found him very irritating so do not watch anything he presents.

Same here, gave up on it a year or two ago. Awful presenting from Mulhearn.

It's amusing. I like it.

It's funny and they can get away with stuff that they couldn't in a million years on primetime ITV.

I like it, i actually enjoy it more than i do the main show. Sometimes you see better acts as well.

I suppose it's meant to be the "magazine" show accompaniment to BGT.

I really like BGMT. Definitely the best of ITV2's spinoff shows:; Stephen Mulhern is hilarious and sometimes you get better acts than those featured on the main show.

Another one who prefers it to the main show. It's a good laugh. Although I can see how Mulhern's style might be irritating to some, personally I think he's brilliant and makes the show for me.

It's a cunning move from ITV to highlight Mulhearns ego and show just how untalented he is, incapable of offering anything other than rather juvenile, nay, puerile humour.

He would be more suitable to CiTV except they need performers with some degree of talent on there.

Stephen's facial expressions when he talks to the weirdo's backstage crack me up.

We've only started watching it this year and to be honest it only takes us 15 minutes after you fast forward through all the crap with the judges and acts before they go on. For me the only decent part is Ant v Dec or whatever its called.

Mulhurn is a right nkobhead

I agree. I think he's great.

Seems that SM polarises opinions! Personally I have found him quite amusing but the last couple of weeks have been a bit stale and samey.

I think I might have watched it twice in its lifetime, a third occasion would be too much. SM isn't a great presenter, neither is he funny and, as someone else said, I tend to avoid programmes he's hosting or in.

I totally agree with the above. Last week we counted up how many acts were actually shown and there were only five. The whole show is totally pointless and Mulhearn gets worse and more big-headed every week.

He is the reason I don't watch it.

Me too, he ruins the show and wastes too much time.

SM may be a legend in his own mind, but his real problem he has never grown up past the pre-pubescent stage of his life.

Vain. Embarrassingly bad on screen. If he was an act on BGT he would get four buzzers in the first 10 seconds.

An awful ,over-rated, under-talented travesty of a presenter.

I like it, find it funnier and more entertaining than the main show, mainly just for the judges interactions back stage. Neither BGMT or the main show is actually much good tho lets be honest, flogging a dead horse.

The point of BGMT should be that we get to see a lot more acts that we don't see on the main show due to the alloted time, but sadly it's more like the Stephen Mulhern show, mostly full of pointless inane drivel. It's for this reason I don't bother watching it anymore.

It's to keep Stephen Mulhern in a job.

See Catchphrase.

Actually, I don't mind Stephen. He's been responsible for a couple of funny moments when BGMT has been live on ITV2 after the semi final shows.

I find BGMT amusing. I think Stephen Mulhern is a great tv presenter. He interacts brilliantly with the acts on the show, doesn't take himself too seriously and is witty. The BGT team obviously like him a lot too as he has presented BGMT since BGT started. Look at the changes in presenters the Xtra Factor has had.
