Marlon had that coming for a long time and yelling at Laurel who is at her lowest point (so far) won't help matter. I nearly jumped for Joy when she hit him.

It was great to see. I havnt cheered at a tv screen that loudly since OB punched Claire when she tried to drown Max on Hollyoaks.

It was a really good punch too. Maybe it'll put an end to his grimacing about everything. Every episode he has somehting to whine and gurn about.

I absolutely hate Marlon, but he didn't deserve to be punched by Laurel. I wish instead Ashley or Doug had hit him for shouting at Laurel and taking down to her when she was at such a low point.

They've just made him the victim yet again, he's always the one who everyone feels sorry for and his woe is me act is so bloody boring.

Ugh, why have they turned Laurel into the bad guy? She's the one who needs help and support, but it's pretty obvious everyone's going to demonise her, turn their backs on her, and abandon her. Like that'll help.

I hope the fact that Marlon was the one who pushed Laurel over the edge is actually addressed, she was fine when she was with Ashley, it was only when Marlon was mooning over Donna and ignoring her and acting like she was nothing and Donna/April were everything that she started drinking. But as usual Marlon won't have to make up for any of that, it'll just be Laurel begging and crawling for forgiveness.

Would you have thought it was such a great thing if Marlon had punched Laurel, never mind the damage she's done to him?
No difference.

I agree, either way it is shocking and nasty, I did not cheer, I am not keen on either of them but domestic violence is no laughing matter.

Loved it Never thought I'd enjoy watching a Maurel scene that much.

I agree 100%. Marlon is so selfish and he drove Laurel to this point. I really hated the scene where Cain was trying to give him some advice and Marlon snapped at him. Marlon has no redeemable qualities and his selfishness makes it impossible fore me to have any sympathy for his character.

I agree, it was a disgusting act and I'm surprised it wasn't the last straw for Marlon, to be honest. Yes, Laurel has major problems right now and needs support but that doesn't give her a free pass to act in any way she pleases, especially when she's a mother to young, vulnerable children.

I find it quite annoying as well that what she put Arthur and April through wasn't enough to shake her into facing up to her problem, but the threat of losing Marlon suddenly has her begging for the first appointment available at the doctors. It's like when Priya only entered rehab for her eating disorder(s) only because she overheard David saying he'd always love her as the mother of his baby and not because of the threat to her baby.

I felt bad for Marlon, and unless anyone hear has seen someone descend into alcoholism, i doubt you would be looking down on Laurel and calling her a waste of space.

I don't like violence and he didn't deserve that. I've always liked Marlon and I've always hated Laurel with a passion. I don't normally have strong feelings of dislike about a character but I do her. I honestly can't think of one good thing about her.

Wow you really hate Laurel. To me she comes off as more sympathetic than Marlon because she was really trying to make her marriage work and that is what pushed her over the edge.

I don't like the way so many posters don't care that Laurel is ill and found it praiseworthy and enjoyable and are condoning it. Makes you wonder.

Yes I realize Laurel is struggling these days but the way Marlon came at her was very bad and the punch she gave him was what many viewers like myself want to do to him at times when he's being so selfish and self absorbed.

yelling at her she is a needy, drunken mess wasn't going to prompt a good response was it. But, lamping him wasn't a good idea.

She should have told him a few home truths too. Perhaps the doctor could have referred him to a mental health team to be assessed for histrionic personality disorder.

He isn't trying to help her, he is just giving her ultimatums and calling her names and looking tearful and resenting her. I was pissed off he told her the other night "you will lose your family". Er no, Arthur isn't yours so she wouldn't lose him and her dad isn't blaming her for her addiction and threatening her. Losing Marlon and April might be the best thing.

The fact that Arthur isn't Marlon's might make it more likely Laurel will lose him, not less. If Social Services get involved they might think she's incapable of looking after him and put him into foster care or something.

Wouldn't he just live with Ashley? Why would they put the poor kid in the system?

I gasped at that punch.

I'm no Maurel fan, but their acting of late, particularly Charlotte Bellamy, has been fantastic.

That punch was a genuinely shocking moment for me. Her face afterwards too said it all. In that second she didn't seem like she gave a shit.

They probably wouldn't have shown a scene involving Marlon hitting Laurel

Ooops I forgot about Ashley! I was just answering the point about Laurel losing everyone and the fact that he's not Marlon's, the point where somebody said she'd only lose Marlon and April.

Ok I got ya. You know though in Marlon's head losing him should mean everything to Laurel, her kids are a non factor in his world.

The same Laurel who drove Ashley over the edge and then became sanctimonious when he snapped and hit his father?

I don't condone Laurels punch but Marlons venomous speech was utterly disgusting and I'm not surprised she snapped to such an extent. I only wish that after she'd punched him, she'd started on an equally vitriolic outpouring about him and his misgivings, and really put him in his place. He deserves to understand exactly how much input he's had into his wife's current situation!
