I've always liked this, fortunately so do my neighbours if we play it on a warm summer evening. The bass is brilliant, but my little camera can't do it justice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DpU9sMsC28 |

Brilliant, brilliant, totally underrated band and Errol was a great singer.
Distinctive sound, soulful, rocky, provocative lyrics at times. Almost unique. I saw them in the late 70s, not their greatest gig actually but who cares. |

I posted this on the showbiz thread so I'll re-post it here.
Just thinking in the last few days about one of my faves of theirs called 'I'll Put You Together Again'. Beautiful song about the dark subject of feeling suicidal. He really did have a great voice. RIP Errol. |

My Dad loved Hot Chocolate and I grew up with their music and became a fan too. I'm sure they had consistent Top 20 hits from 1970-1985,that's some feat! Errol had such a distinctive voice, and wrote some great lyrics, and Hot Chocolate were able to cross the music genres with ease with funky tracks like Heaven's In The Back Seat Of My Cadillic, pop tracks like You Sexy Thing and epic ballads like I'll Put You Together Again. We've lost one of our greats. RIP Errol.

I offer my condolences to his family and friends. He produced some iconic music. I remember being a teenager in 1997/98 and the Full Monty came out. He enjoyed a renaissance after that soundtrack. May he rest in peace.

Very much one of the most distinctive pop voices of the 70s and 80s. I don't think Hot Chocolate ever produced a bad record, and they made a few famous great ones. We could do with some more quality pop/soul bands today. RIP Errol Brown.

This is such sad news. I met Errol once in the '90's after one of his concerts. What a lovely talented man and such a gentleman.
RIP You sexy thing! |

RIP Erroll! Talented man though this is embarrassing to admit but we went to see hot chocolate a few days ago and were struck by how great Erroll brown looked and sounded. I've just realised now that it obviously wasn't him.

Tracie Young on Radio Essex has just mentioned Errol Brown's death. She had 2 songs in mind to play, and thankfully passed up No Doubt About It and played the festive-sounding I'll Put You Together Again.
I liked several other Hot Chocolate songs too. Examples are Emma, Cheri Babe, Disco Queen, You Sexy Thing, Put Your Love In Me and Everyone's a Winner. |
