Got a sudden urge to rewatch Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, haven't seen it since the last episode aired. Probably won't be as good as I remember though.

What it loses in age, it makes up for in Nostalgia. I want to watch it again too.

I also liked the relationship between SG and her adoptive sister, at least as long as sister isn't supposed to be evil. Also, liked that all her friends know who she is by the end of the episode. (One of the things I dislike in The Flash is his hiding his identity from his would-be girlfriend.)”

and yet the show is called Supergirl .

In the comics she was only about 14 when she went public with her powers so it made sense.

TBF the 2nd Superboy is still called that dispite been a adult now

I enjoyed the pilot. It felt a little rushed, they tried to hit lots of story beats, but I thought it was executed pretty well. There were some cheesy lines of dialogue that hopefully they'll work on. It feels different to the other 2 DC shows too.

I liked that too but it's also a double edged sword if they go with villain of the week. However they offset that set up by having Kara's aunt being the ultimate villain so it should make it more interesting.

She was too statuesque.

Benoist looks like the dorky girl next door. That's what Supergirl should be.

Aye, so it wouldn't have cost them anything to add in the throwaway line about why James Olsen now isn't the weedy geek

It was also trending on Twitter and that only happens if a lot of people are talking about it.

I hope they don't focus too much on the Department of Alien Destruction, or whatever the hell it's called.

The focus of the show should be on Supergirl. Not some half-assed government department that reminds me of the Initiative from Buffy.

Going by how well arrow and the flash are doing story wise Im sure Supergirl won't disappoint.

They're just a device to allow the sister to be involved, and to unify the plots with the alie baddies gunning for them. The plots won't typically be ABOUT the DEO, I think, at least until
Spoiler
Hank Henshaw decides to go evil.

Spoiler
I wonder how they are supposed to do Cyborg Superman without Superman.

Though I'm sure they can pull it off

I thought it was OK. I wonder if I might have been more excited if I hadn't watched that long trailer a few months back, which showed so much of this episode.

It felt like they were trying to get through this first episode really quickly, so some of the moments which should've felt 'big' (such as her revealing herself to various people), just didn't manage it.

I liked Supergirl herself though. I'll watch next week to see more of her.

It should keep a generally light tone and not take itself too seriously. I hate dark and gritty superhero incarnations.

That's the problem. Some are gonna compare it and judge it on based on the other two which is unfair. Personally I think it'll end up being a mixture of both just not going quite as dark as arrow though. Either way I'll enjoy it.

Loved this first episode. Certainly has promise and the US numbers were very promising too but we will see how much it loses this coming week. Given the quality I suspect not a big number - though nearly all shows drop a bit from launch.

Liked, as someone said earlier, that they did not try to compromise this as a female led show. Made it feel different and that will not harm the audience either.

It is certainly more in the vogue of Flash than Arrow, which again is no bad thing. I suspect Arrow appeals to the comic book fans more than a broader audience and Flash is pitched more at appealing a little more broadly by being lighter and less intense.

Happy they are avoiding crossovers, too. When they do crossovers between Arrow and Flash it seems to dilute both shows as they are so different. The combo is more Flush than Flash, really. So probably a wise decision.

Just a nice new show and from the response to the opening episode on both sides of the Atlantic seemingly pitched just right.

Barring an unlikely ratings collapse it should get an early season 2 order. Which will help the story telling towards the end of series 1.

I'm one of those few freaky people who loves the Flarrow cross overs I like Barry bringing his unfailing enthusiasm to Oliver's jaded superhero and I like how Ollie is able to keep Barry on that straight and narrow path (although as Barry's off-ed two villains so far this season it might not be working out so well as advice!)

Me too. I loved the original three Superman films. I have tired to watch Superman Returns at least twice and couldn't make it past the first 15 mins or so.

You couldn't make it through Superman Returns because it was too dark and gritty ?

Oh you should stay away from Man of Steel then. Stay well away.

There were actually 4 original Superman films Plus as Yuffie as hinted at, Returns isn't a gritty one. It's very much in the vein of the originals and was made that way by Bryan Singer.
