Maybe not the "dark gritty" Superhero shows we have now but it did remind me of Lois and Clark and the Christopher Reeve Superman films.

She doesn't seem to really grasp the secret identity thing though, going by the trailer half the cast seem to know she's Supergirl by the end of the Pilot.

To be honest I'm not sure I'll end up watching it but I will give it a couple of episodes before I decide.
Have you watched The Flash...that is so far from Dark & Gritty.

The blurry Superman in the trailer was not Cavill; it looked like someone younger...

Might be nothing, though.
There is no way that it would have been Cavill. Firstly there'd be the cost behind him, Secondly DC have made it quite clear their desire to keep their TV series and Film series separate.

Not sure what I think of that trailer, I like humour but I was hoping it would be more darker/grittier. It seemed more like a chick flick.

I'd argue that The Flash has got darker as the season went on but my main point was that Supergirl seems more like the Superhero shows and films of the 1980's/1990's rather than the current crop of shows.

I thought that looked pretty good.

That was a long a$$ trailer and I can't believe they showed the coming out scene, big rescue scene outfit scene and the final outfit scene all in one trailer. OMG do they want people to watch? Obviously they do but are worried they won't hense the over exposed trailer with LOTS of detail
I don't think it was a trailer, it was a first look or special preview and so has more content.

Corwin I wasn't expecting dark and gritty as I was hoping it would be more like the Flash which you can't really call that dark and gritty!

It does have a more mainstream feel overall but there are certainly parts of the preview that point more towards 'The Flash' with the organisation protecting the Earth against aliens; the first save, the classic Superman introduction, also felt like 'The Flash' too and not like something from e.g. 'Lois and Clark'.

They're called Upfront Trailers or something like that. They're basically a short version of the pilot and are intended for companies wanting to buy advertising space during the show. CBS also showed off upfront trailers for Limitless (TV show based on the film, the show actually has Bradley Cooper in it), Code Black (couldn't be more of a carbon copy of Greys Anatomy), and two comedies (I can't remember their names but one had Jane Lynch in it as a guardian angel or something)

I like the look of this. I'll be watching.

Maybe DC will re-launch Kara's comic now......

Well, I was impressed by the trailer. There were a few moments that were a bit cringe, but I do like the overall look of it. I think she'll do pretty good as Kara. The suit looks a lot better than it does in the pictures that they released of it. Not too shabby at all.

I think this trailer sells it more as a superhero show https://youtu.be/CThmpQJ6NMY

The show looks really good. Its just a shame that I know Mellisa from Glee, as it would have been better to have seen her in this as an unknown. But I hope she can pull it off, you can't have too many super hero shows.

Wasn't Flash/Barry in Glee to if so it's worked with him don't think they could have picked a better actor.

Yes he was a baddie Warbler who was mostly part time in the show, so I didn't recognise him till you just mentioned it. Much prefer him as Barry to Sebastian (will never forgive him for almost blinding Blaine).

Where as Mellisa was center stage in the New Directions. Sadly her character wasn't well written so didn't show Mellisa off as well as this show should do.

Superheroes don't have to be 'dark and gritty'. Not at all.
But this looks a bit rubbish. Like one of those generic women's shows like Ugly Betty or something.

Another 2 minute trailer dropped earlier.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CThmpQJ6NMY

It's more action-y and less Ugly Betty. She uses her heat vision in it too.

The more I see of the outfit. the more I like it. Better than how it looks in the promo pics from its reveal. Better trailer too.

I wonder if this is going to set in the Arrow/Flash universe how it fits as Superman is already very well known and judging by Jimmy"s age must have been active for around at least 20 years.

Surely he would have been mentioned at least once.

I can see Cisco mentioning him.

"Barry is even faster than Superman"

And if Superman was know why would Meta's be treated like something the world has never seen before.

Really looking forward to this, another show to add to the download list to watch instead of the shit on UK TV like Downtown shabby or strangle the midwife. Thankfully American shows at USA pace, actually makes it worth turning the television on for.

It doesn't seem to be. In one of the Trailers Kara says something about Earth now having two Heroes suggesting that she and Superman are the only Heroes.

If they ever want to do crossovers they might want to have characters travelling to parallel worlds (so the Flash/Arrow world and the SuperGirl/Man one are two separate Universes).

Another idea is that The Flash time travels to save his Mother but changes other things and in the new Timeline Superman and Supergirl are part of the same Universe as Flash/arrow.

Yes, I was expecting something a bit grittier too. I don't mind a little of this kind of thing, so long as it's not like that all the way through. As with most of these shows you need to have the patience to give them a run for a while, so I'll certainly be checking it out.

Yes, I thought the initial costume promo seemed disappointing, although I gradually warmed to it over time. But the trailer has a nice look overall and Melissa comes across as very engaging. That wasn't the impression I formed originally (I've not seen her in Glee or anything else, so this is the first time I've seen her).
