The Costume looks a lot brighter in the trailer than it did in the early promo pics. I'm not sure if the photos were darker on purpose or if they have brightened up the outfit due to feedback from the photos.

Another 2 minute trailer dropped earlier.

It's more action-y and less Ugly Betty. She uses her heat vision in it too.
Lol, I did post the link a few comments up...

It's just as dark in the dark scenes like the military base. The promo shots weren't brightly lit. We see the costume in daylight in the trailers and it still looks quite subdued compared to Reeve's and Cain's costumes.

It doesn't look quite so primary colours in this photo as it does in the trailer.

Trailer- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lm46-envrHo

I'm glad there's more humour than the standard grim Zack Snyder type DC property, but I guess only time will tell if it works.
Terrible trailer.

Why would you take a Superman spinoff and make it girly as hell?

It should be your traditional comic book show, not Super Hollyoaks.

Hopefully it is not as bad as the Wonder Woman remake for being girly.

Calista Flockhart going on about how girls are great compared to being called women, was a bit OTT.

Probably a bit too much to hope for judging by the trailer...

Don't see a problem with a show about a female Superhero being a bit girly.

It's not even that bad if anything it reminds me of Smallville that she is just learning about her powers.

It's like having a show about a black super hero and the show being about racism all the time.

Or a gay super hero and being about homophobia.

Just have her as a super hero and forget all the gender politics stuff.

It's the 21st Century most people can handle the idea of a female heroine.

It's ideal fodder for E4.

Or just take it for what it is and again it's not even that girly.

I just think some men worry if anyone knows they watch a show about a female hero their "manlyness" will be questioned.

I watch Nashville. Can't get much more girly than that.

There is nothing 'girly' about Supergirl from the trailer. The only problem I had was with the gender politics speech from Calista's character.

Yeah yeah posh bint head of a newspaper with her private lift just incase she gets someone elses aftershave on her.

Go girl power. rolleyes.

It's too in your face. Like the show is screaming at you 'THIS SHOW IS FOR GIIIRLS!'

(Yes, I know it's just a trailer but it gave away 6 minutes).

No but that is different from changing a characters personality in the comics that is pretty much the only point of Cat she was a bitch in Lois and Clark to.

It would be like taking Jimmy and saying he never took a photo in his life and hated Superman and Clark

Who played Cat in Lois and Clark? Was it the actress from Babylon 5?

I don't mind the change with Jimmy, I saw the new Annie.

The problem is that at least American viewing audiences have proven in the past that they can be silently sexist in their viewing habits. With only a few exceptions, female led action shows have done very badly in the ratings department and thus have had trouble staying on the air (or fear of that blocking more shows like that getting on the air).

The biggest change with Cat is that she's now rich, somewhat older, and in charge. It's an interesting way to go, and they ARE substantial changes, but yes... she's always been a bitch (and vain too).

Yes, I thought the initial costume promo seemed disappointing, although I gradually warmed to it over time. But the trailer has a nice look overall and Melissa comes across as very engaging. That wasn't the impression I formed originally (I've not seen her in Glee or anything else, so this is the first time I've seen her).
She sucked in Glee, but BECAUSE it was Glee, not because of her.

In this she looks great. She's playing a slightly different Supergirl from most of the comics versions, but a viable and interesting one (Supergirl's transformation from her nerdy civilian persona to her Super identity is usually more glamorous/cheesecakey--so a version where the Super identity is still a bit nebbishy is kind of interesting).

And you can tell all of this from a short preview?

Well you appear to hate women, so I guess we're not gonna change your mind.

And UGLY BETTY? Where the heck did you get THAT comparison? Supergirl is like an unattractive hispanic girl working at a fashion magazine as part of a show that's like a Telenovella? SERIOUSLY?

And... here's the proof koantemplation needed that some people just won't give female led action shows a fair chance. It's 4 months from coming out and based on a few minutes of footage, "god" has already made up his mind, as well as what totally unrelated show its apparently like (but not really).
