All I'll say is that the pilot is better than the trailers for it, which was good anyway.

Just watched the pilot and WOW just WOW it was amazing.

Watched it a few hours ago and it was quite average, hoping for an improvement for a full series.

Gawd, I've always hated that name "Supergirl". If they are going to make a deal of it, I'll quickly find it wearisome as it will only highlight how much the moniker annoys the hell out of me. And since I know that they aren't going to change the name, I hope they lay off laying its gender politics with a trowel because going on and on about something that I know is never going to change will quickly irritate, especailly given her inexperience as a superhero and that Director dude making a point of it.

Other than that I enjoyed it, but needs a bit of an edge to it which I hope Kara's crazy aunt might provide. The actress is appealling, bless her heart, and I like her brightness just as I love Grant Gustin in The Flash. I'm not entirely sold on it but the pilot didn't put me off watching the second episode whenever that is.

As for the early leak, bit suspicious after The Flash was leaked last year. Maybe they want to generate the kind of talk The Flash garnered after its leak (which was generally positive). Supergirl, on the other hand, may be a bit more of a tricker fair to sell for all sorts of reasons: first female lead superheroine character in the modern superheroine universes - whether it's DC or Marvel, TV or film, gender politics not withstanding; comparisions made with her better known cousin and his story (feels like I've been here before); the need to find its own voice and place in an increasingly crowded TV Superhero/Anti-hero genre - Legends of Tomorrow's trailer looked more appetitising; demographics (will males like it a lot less than females? Who knows?)

I agree that maybe the pilot was leaked to create more positive reaction online after the negative reaction to the trailer

I watched the pilot and I found it quite average.However that has made me a bit more positive about this show than I was after watching the trailer which I thought was awful

Although most of the pilot seem to be in the trailer!

Just watched it, thought it was ok but not great.

Will probably watch a few more episodes when it does finally air.


I do think it's a bit odd that they've already made every single main character apart from Cat Grant aware of Kara's secret identity.

Ok the Bad Guys don't know yet but they'll probably find out in Ep2


I suppose this might be to distinguish it from the Superman story where he does initially keep his secret from everyone (parents excluded).

My impression after watching it is that it was extremely good in most ways, with some bits that WERE clunkers, but all of them were fixable (none of them were in the essential setup or talent, but instead were stuff like cliched dialogue, which can be fixed, and bad acting from someone who was only a guest star, so he won't be seen again). Of the regular ongoing actors, only the guy who played the DEO boss had any real acting issues, and he just needs to tone it down. Melissa Benoist herself did a bang up job, and even Chyler Leigh, who hasn't always been a totally solid actor in the past, did pretty good here. Callista Flockart was VERY over the top, but in this specific case it worked for the character.

The overall plot was decent, the conceits they needed to bow to in order to keep Superman mostly out of it reasonable (because they didn't duck around TALKING about him, thank god, and even called him by name), and the FX pretty good, other than the actual plane (but the flying PERSON was really well done, which was FAR more important than the plane).

I don't think any detailed discussions should occur in this thread at all since not everyone watches illegally.

Impressions are fine though. Pilot episode tend to be average so hearing that isn't too bad. Arrow had a dire set episodes in the first half of series 1.

Well we already know the 6 minute trailer was a sales pitch trailer summarising the pilot for broadcasters to get a taste for buying the show.

Seeing them was probably my favourite part of the pilot, shame some people are going to view it and no know who they are. I still think I prefer the lighter colours in the costume.

Agree. It was amazing. There were a few acting issues like others have said but it's the pilot; all these will be ironed out. So happy it was leaked I got a real feel for the show and the aired pilot will probably be tweaked on the back of fan reaction

There are only a couple of plot points in the episode that aren't in either trailer.

If you've seen both trailers you have more or less seen the episode, final scene aside.

Having watched the pilot, I was actually left underwhelmed. It wasn't terrible, but I suspect the writers were too focused on trying to send her on her way and in doing so, crammed too much into the episode.

The first episode should have been about finding her way from human life to superhero. The last scene should have been her in her costume. The fact that she gets her ass kicked and then all of a sudden kicks ass seems out of place.

It should have been obvious from the get-go that Superman did/does exist in this universe, though it'll be interesting to see what other superheroes show up if they don't do the crossovers with Flash & Arrow.

One thing that's always bothered me about superman and I'm sure it's been explained elsewhere but out of the entire planet of Krypton they only had 2 escape pods????

I can't quote sources cause I don't know any, but it's unlikely this is the case.

All we know is that two escape pods were sent to Earth. That doesn't mean that somewhere else out there (cause the galaxy is a very big place) that other kryptonians aren't alive and well.

That they probably had more escape pods is generally irrelvant - in almost all versions of the story, Superman's father Jor El was the man who idenitified Krypton's imminent demise, but nobody believes him. As such, the fact that his own one and his brother's family were sent is perfectly feasible when you consider everyone else thought it was rubbish.

Finally managed to watch the pilot all be it on my tablet. Thought it was great. Can't wait for the series to start even if it is 6 month away.

i like her suite it's the right shade of blue and the cape is good think the skirt needs to be a darker red. i can see it having a uk home on channel 5 or 5 usa maybe e4 it's got potential to be a very good show

both her and the suit look 10x better in the show than they did on the promo shots when they got revealed. Not one to criticise someone who does it for a job but those shots were pretty poor work as it just led to complaints when in reality on the show, looks better. So the photographer clearly didn't get the right shot? angle? light? whatever.
