Prior to launch night Rylan has put on his twitter

Not sure who's idea this one was but it's a shocking one in my opinion

That takes the excitement away and the main reason people tune in on launch night, awful idea

Are they deliberately trying to lose viewers on launch night!

Ridiculous idea. They should release teasers like they have previously.

"Once the countdown hits zero at 00:01am on Sunday 10th May all of this year’s new housemates will officially be revealed on @BBUK and bigbrother.channel5.com."

I don't mind this, it's easy enough to avoid finding out until launch night. Although, I don't see the point in them revealing them earlier.

Well I for one certainly won't be seeking them out 😒

I could understand this for the Celebrity version (if they have decent celebs) but I don't really see the point on the civilian shown..

...unless well known ex-housemates are going in as contestants and they want to use them to get media attention (unlikely IMO).

Every year when there is an early eviction people complain that we haven't learnt enough about the HMs to make a fair judgement so maybe BB are revealing the HMs early so this won't be a problem

Getting a picture and fact file of each housemate is hardly going to let us get to know them. We don't even get to know those who are in it to the end due to the heavily edited HL show. Sadly this seems like it's lining up for a launch night eviction, to show the timebomb is ticking down and no one is safe..

BIG BROTHER IS BACK ON!

My life has now been taken away again aha.

I am defiantly not going to be searching for Rylan on twitter. I like the surprise of seeing who's coming in the house!

But perhaps he was publicizing it to entice more people to watch it as recently they haven't had as much engagement on their show.

Not really sure what to think of this, I think it is silly to form an opinion on it before channel 5 have even done it yet.

If anything I would just assume it is a marketing technique to gather more viewers. Get the hype rolling early and consistently rather than have 2 hours of non stop housemate bullshittery. From an advertising standpoint, it seems like a good idea but like I said, it is all about Channel 5 pulling it off the right way.

I think it's the opposite! The whole buzz of the first night is seeing the house on a tour and meeting the housemates.

I agree with you but if we are on a BB forum it is safe to say we are pretty big fans, the more casual fans get bored easily so a slow trickle in little chunks would be better suited for them.

Honestly, with the right implementation then it's really the best of both worlds. If Launch night is unchanged then the more avid BB fans will get what they want regardless or not of how many housemates they show off beforehand.

Knowing Channel 5 they will mess it up by having half the night dedicated to some stupid twist while the housemates are just there.

I doubt we will get to know that much about them apart from their Twitter handle and what BB think we want to read about them

Unfortunate they are going down this route and taking away the surprise of seeing them on launch night

Wanna know who's going into the Big Brother House - before launch night?

Something seems to be wrong with Big Brother's clock. We're so impatient for the new series to start that time seems to have been passing more slowly than usual, but now it's started going backwards, because for the first time in Big Brother history, we're going to get to find out who the new housemates are before launch night.

Yup, even before the doors to the most famous bungalow in Borehamwood open up, we're going to reveal who's moving in. The Big Brother: Timebomb 48-hour countdown starts at 00.01am tomorrow morning, and when the clock reaches zero at 00.01am on Sunday, we'll be introducing you to the new housemates right here on the Big Brother website, and over on our Twitter account.

By our calculations, that means the fun begins just after the stroke of midnight tonight. Keep an eye on the site, and follow us on Twitter - before time runs out. You won't wanna miss this.

The Big Brother 2015 housemates will be unveiled before launch night this year in a Big Brother first.

Channel 5 has today announced that for the first time ever in Big Brother history, the new Housemates will officially be revealed before the Live Launch show.

And it’ll follow a two day The Big Brother: Timebomb themed countdown, commencing at 00:01am on Friday 8th May on Big Brother’s official Twitter feed @BBUK and on the official Big Brother website.

Once the countdown hits zero at 00:01am on Sunday 10th May all of this year’s new housemates will officially be revealed online.

The move will allow us viewers two days to get to know this year’s cast before they enter the house in Tuesday night’s live launch show.

And from the moment the new Housemates walk through those doors they’ll enter the world of Big Brother: Timebomb.

Speaking about this year’s BBUK housemates recently, Bit on The Side’s Rylan Clark teased: “We’ve got young, middle aged and older — and although we’ve got the typical stereotypes, they don’t fit the bracket they’re in. So, for example, a young, pretty girl might not be what she seems.”

And he’s admitted: “You might have seen a couple of the contestants if you really dug for them.

Big Brother: Timebomb Live Launch, Tuesday 12th May at 9pm on Channel 5.

It's a strange one this. I can only assume the launch show will be tweaked in some way, perhaps sped up.

Curiosity will get the better of me and I'll have to look. But if you plan on avoiding these "spoilers" I would probably also give this place a wide berth until launch night.

Sounds like they could have been linked to the press and they're just getting there before they do.

Rotten idea. Will avoid.

In BB11 I avoided looking at the 90 potential HMs until their names were called out.

Ah, more kitchen-dwelling bores who go to bed at 10 and complain if anyone's having fun.

Not all of them

Risha from BB Canada this year looked like she could have been fun, but as perhaps usual with the elder housemates on any BB nowadays she got picked off early

If we can get a Risha like character in the UK house, they may last longer

The flipside is we get a Carole like character who'll stifle the fun or equally another Lesley who will walk after 1 or 2 weeks because it wasn't what they expected it to be

Every HM over 40 in non-celeb UK BB has been poor, in one way or another. Carole and Lesley illustrate two of the ways.

Perhaps it's different in other countries, but even your Canadian example is just someone who looked like she could have been fun, rather than someone who actually was over a large fraction of the series. If she'd stayed longer, perhaps she'd even have turned out to be like Carole. Many people thought, at first, that "I am the argument" Carole was going to be a great HM.

Especially since much of launch night is repeated anyway in the next day's highlights.

I don't think we'd learn anything about them from the early reveal that we wouldn't have known before the first eviction anyway.

*

BTW, doesn't the idea that time can go backward look like it might somehow give BB an excuse to evict a HM without a public vote? (Indeed, HMs already have been evicted without a public vote: in bb15. So BB already doesn't seem to see it as a step too far.)

This is obviously a pathetic attempt by Channel 5 to make up for the fact that there is no live feed to enable us to get acquainted with the housemates.

Launch Night all seems rather pointless now and any anticipation or excitement we had left for the series has been taken away.
