Celebrity-wannabe Sam Barton has been banned from the new series of Big Brother after he threatened to headbutt fellow contestant Josie Cunningham.
The former barman, from Four Oaks, Sutton Coldfield, was lined up to appear in the new series of the Channel 5 show which starts on Tuesday.
But Sam, 22, says he will no longer be taking part after producers axed him following comments he made about Josie Cunningham, dubbed the “queen of the scroungers.”
He had reportedly said: “If I was to come across Josie in the Big Brother house, I would probably headbutt her, no exaggeration. I absolutely hate the woman with a passion.”
Channel 5 bosses feared the two could clash in the TV house and decided to remove him from their planned line-up.
Sam had also reportedly clashed on Twitter to another rumoured contestant called Brad The Lad Long.
Sam said: “Channel 5 have pulled me from the show, I had a warning about threatening to headbutt Josie Cunningham in comments I made to a newspaper. They then they said that I used another physical threat on Twitter to another housemate rumoured to be going in.
“They said if I made the threats in the house I would have been removed and they had already received complaints about what I said. I am completely gutted.”
Sam’s manager Barry Tomes added: “I have spoken with the bosses of Big Brother at Channel 5 in a bid to get them to change their decision. But their lawyers are red hot on any type of threats and I am afraid Sam has ruined it for himself this series. They won’t change their minds.’’
He added: “Sam has been very naive. I was in America at the time on business when he made those comments. A lot of work has gone in to get him onto the show and it has all been for nothing. However, this isn’t the end for Sam and we are hoping he can become a contestant on a Big Brother series in the future. But for this series he won’t be going in.”
Mark Pitchford, spokesman for Channel 5 said: “We don’t comment on rumour or speculation on housemates.”
Sam, the grandson of Aston Villa’s European Cup-winning manager Tony Barton, revealed in January that he was going bankrupt after racking up debts of £35,000 on his Champagne lifestyle.
He admitted spending an astonishing £100,000 in just four years, blowing up to £2,000 a night on £300 bottles of expensive fizz.
Sam had set his sights on a TV presenting career but plunged into the red after spending a fortune on plastic surgery, including £20,000 on his teeth, £5,000 on botox and £10,400 on a nose job.
He also splashed out on foreign holidays, designer outfits and jewellery – and even £1,000 on accessories for his pet cat.
