The obvious method would have been to take Sara, Laurel and Quentin with him five months into the future, or maybe just take the whole of Team Arrow? Hell, maybe just kidnap Darhk and drop his sorry ass in the phantom zone?
...I guess that would have been too simple though, and not made for much of a story. That's my main concern with this show (and other shows, or episodes) and the focus on time travel; there's no consistency with any of it. I know that's kind of the idea, but continuity goes a long way, whereas this show (for all the fun it is) doesn't rely on anything like that, and instead just changes the timeline or paradox to suit it's own needs.
