Because (in the trailer for S2's Legends) Barry (future Barry) makes contact with the team through the ships communication. Presumably he does so to inform them that Thawne is responsible for the current temporal shenanigans.

Time Travel in this show is a complete mess anyway, as Thawne should have been captured by the Time Wraith long ago for all the changes he's made to the timeline, not to mention killing Nora Allen which started this whole thing. There is a timeline out there (somewhere) where Nora wasn't killed, and Barry grew up to become the Flash in his adult years.

Considering Harrison Wells (from Earth 1) shouldn't be dead anymore, Barry shouldn't even have his speed yet, but he has. Trying to understand the temporal dynamics of the DC tv series ... you'd have more luck trying to explain the existence of God to a deaf Bat.

Edit: Regarding Timeline A, B, C or X; there's always going to be a future Barry; we know (or at least presume) that there is one in the future that Thawne is from. Said Barry's memory might be different, or it might not (protection from the speed force?) but he'll exist still.

What I still don't get is Thawne. Lets take a look at Season 3 so far. Barry came from Timeline A (after his defeat of Zoom), changed the past (saved his Mom, defeated Eobard), and existed in Timeline B for some time, before he started to lose his memory. Why? He was losing his memory because he changed the true timeline. He then helped Eobard to fulfil the death of Nora, thus dropping (them both) into Timeline C.

Now, at some point, Timeline 0 was the true one, then Eobard went back and created Timeline A, then (desired too, and later did) return to (his) Timeline A. By that very act, he should have started to suffer the exact same memory troubles that Barry was seen to experience.

I can only assume at this point that the Eobard Thawne we're now seeing isn't the same one (from a conscious perspective) as the same one that initially made the choice to go back and kill Nora. I would theorize that Eobard went back in time, killed Nora, went back to his future, and his memories changed because of it (to accommodate he change he made to the timeline). Eobard, trapped in his present by himself had no way of stopping the side effect, so subsequently just became another version of himself.

Make sense?

Was a bit of a meh episode this week.

The JLA weren't up to much (other than Vixen who was great)

It was cool to see Sarah finally get promoted to Captain status now that we seem to have seen the last of Rip for a while at least.

The villain of the week was AWFUL. Not because of acting or anything, but because the special effects used were so god awful it just took me out of the show with every passing frame he was in. Truly terrible CGI.

There were however some nice moments between the new guy and his grandfather (though I thought the bombing was totally random)

Good episode, nice use of the JSA members though I wish we had seen a little more of Stargirl, Obsidian and MidNite though.

Really hoping the show isn't planning future Sara/Nate and Ray/Amaya hook ups even though I liked their scenes together. Nate's scenes with his grandfather, Commander Steel were particularly good as well.

Was surprised to see Reverse Flash actually kill Hourman but it was a good final moment for the episode though.

Sara becoming the captain made sense and I liked that Stein stepped aside and let her run the Waverider. I also liked Stein's version of Edelweiss as well.

The super soldier looked terrible, some of the worst CGI the show has done but the meetings of both teams and that ending gave the episode a boost though.

Nice mentions of Snart and Rip too, 7/10

Season 2 Opener

How awesome was that !!!!!!!!!!!

Now to avoid this thread like the plague cos I do hope Rip returns and don't want anyone spoiling it with a "he doesn't" post or a "he does in ep suchnsuch" post.
I've only just watched EP1 as I'm so behind on all my DC shows but bloody hell that was brilliant!

I've always loved the irreverent side of LoT and that episode was bang full of it, the sly humour, the subtle digs, the rescue mission, Oliver Queen, Damien Darhk (because Neal McDonough is just awesome), the Nazis!, Albert Einstein, a bloody T-rex, the arrival of the Justice Society of America, could it have gotten more awesome. Oh yeah, 17th Century France, sword fights, and 9th Century England - genius.

Wonder where Rip's at, as there's been no news of Arthur Darvill leaving I'm guessing he had a Hail Mary and has also ended up scattered somewhere in time.

Also liking new guy, he'll fit in well I think.

Always got the impression with The Flash/Arrow shows that super powered Heroes and Villains (apart from hidden things like the LoA) were a recent thing in their Universe yet now we see a bunch of Heroes running (and flying) around in the 1940's.

Seems a little odd that no one in Flash or Arrow ever mentioned this sort of thing before.
Nope, Golden era comics go back to the 30s.

I was talking about the TV shows, nothing to do with the comic versions.

Anyway it was explained in the latest episode.

Hasn't that animal woman been in Arrow?
Her Granddaughter.

i think arthur was filming the 3rd series of Broadchurch as this season started filming, so i assume he will be back around episode 6 unless they hold off for the mid season finale

Agreed on all points. I love that this show doesn't take itself seriously so there's always that complete comic book feel of daring do about everything that happens.

Interesting twist with Rex/Hourman being killed by Eobard at the end though, wonder where that's going to go.

Also agreed the CGI on the super soldier was shocking, it was very much second rate super serum/Captain America for me there unfortunately. I did like Ray's little dig about it not being a serum though.
Wonder if Rex's death is going to be how Vixen ends up joining the Waverider crew and also really pleased to see Sara becoming the leader, she's the logical choice after Rip.
Loved the dynamics between Commander Steel and Nate and that we got what was basically an origin story for
Spoiler

Brilliantly done.

Also wonderful to get a chance to hear VIctor Garber doing what he does best - his version of Edelweiss was beautiful.

Nice history lesson this week and also a nice shout out to a certain character too, which was good.

Nate and Ray feel too similarly tonally that it makes me wonder why we even need the former though this episode did showcase Nate's powers fairly well.

Sara, Mick and Amaya got all the highlights of this episode. Mick's joy at seeing ninjas was just brilliant to see though.

Why do Stein and Jax have to keep Barry's message a secret though? 7/10

I found this episode fun, but some things annoyed me, primarily around the ATOM suit. Mainly around just how powerful it is (or isn't), how many times have we seen Ray captured and the suit taken off him?! And he knows how to use/pilot the damn thing, yet this random guy that shouldn't even be able to comprehend the tech, is suddenly more than a match for the entire team!

Ray shouldn't have even been captured at the start! He could have easily taken out 3 guys with swords, or shrunk down and flown away or a million other things!

Lets not forget, one of the most powerful team members (firestorm) are dickin' around on the ship, finding a secret room!

Loved it! Absolutely loved every single bit of it. My favourite episode so far I think and not just because of all the meta jokes, but because I love feudal Japan (Shogun the TV series with Richard Chamberlain was one of my absolutely favourites as a teenager).
I loved all the subtle nods not only to actual history, the baddie Shogun guy was a real person back in the Edo period of feudal Japan.

The cinematography was beautiful too, very stylish and evocative of the martial arts films that period has inspired, the fight scenes were epic and it had Ninja, I mean, how more awesome can you get!
Yoda quotes and Ninja in the same episode

Really liking the dynamic with Amaya on the Waverider as well now, we were lacking another woman and she's also a strong superhero in her own right unlike Kendra who had it thrust on her. Also she got a new totem this week, the lion!

Loved the Yamashiro/Katana references too, what a wonderful and clever way to provide an alternative origin story for that DC character by having us see her ancestress receive the blade which belonged to her dead brother!

Also great to see Sab Shimono, Mr. Murakami himself, on screen.

Loved Mick and his Ninja, loved his relationship with Amaya, loved Ray and Nate's bromance and hopefully Ray's not going to go all mopey over his suit, he must have prototypes somewhere.

And intrigued to see just what Barry's message is going to be and loved the subtle Lost reference.

I wonder if Barry's message is what leads to the 4 night crossover.

I suppose it could be about Thawne but I can't see it.

Also with Thawne as Barry can't appear in all of them to take down Thawne I wonder if Jay will become a member is he was a founding member of the JSA.

What's going on with this show? Last season I missed whole episodes because it was so <bleep> and now it's up there with my favourite shows of the week.

Feudal Japan was just awesome. So much fun. Again, like the Flash this week, fun and not wallowing in dour misery!

It's either something about Thawne/Legion of Doom or it's going to be about

Best episode of the season so far. I found Stein's zombie actually hilarious and having Mick being temporarily infected led to some funny moments in this one.

Mick giving Ray Snart's cold gun was unexpected but I liked the gesture nonetheless.

Nate was better utilised here than last week but I really hope they don't go down a romance route with him and Sara.

Jax and Amaya had some of the best moments of this episode and I liked seeing their reactions and helping the slaves in this one.

At some point, Stein and Jax are going to have to tell Sara about Barry's message from the future, 9/10

i absoloutley loved this episode! it had the right amounts of drama, comedy and story telling, i personally am finding this show far superior to the other DC shows on the C.W at the moment

I'm starting to think more and more Barry's message is about the crossover as it fits in with what we know about it.

Well I've still no idea what's going on or whether the production team changed the writers, but this show is fast becoming one of my favourites in the week.

I shudder to know that Darvill is coming back at some point to sully the show with his ropey acting, but until then I'll really enjoy it!

This show has taken a crazy turnaround in quality

Agree with you. Although I didn't mind Rip, I can't say I've missed his absence. It's mainly getting rid of the dead weight in Kendra/Carter and all that angst that's allowed the show to breathe and embrace the fun.

The chemistry of the group and the banter between them all is just right now and it's basically 40 minutes of sitting back and enjoying the (wave)ride. Feudal Japan was excellent and this week with "I'm Colonel Sanders" and having walkers in the Union Army was great as well.

It's Arrow that's dropped to being my least favourite of the CW shows at the minute. Not feeling the newbies and I actually miss Laurel.

I think Ray will get a new Atom suit sooner or later.

I wonder if they took it out to save money on CGI for now and this explains why he's not in it when needed.

So good. LoT is still my favourite of all the DC shows as it was last year. That episode was an almost perfect blend of drama, action, pathos, humour and a subtle history lesson.

Oh, and zombies, at Halloween

It always was quality, just sporadic. There were some absolutely superb episodes in the first season as well, what dragged it down was the poor villain (and I feel for Caspar Crump) and the irritating Hawks as they really didn't use them well.

Another one I really liked.

Sara was a bit reckless with Darhk this week but I did like her scenes with him and likewise, Damien's scenes with Reverse Flash were pretty good as well. A step from Savage from last season as well.

Loved older Obsidian and the casual way the show mentioned his boyfriend. Nate and Amaya worked well with him too. Wasn't surprised that Amaya and Rex were involved with each other though.

Stein's scenes with Sara were one thing but I also enjoyed the ones he had with Jax, his younger self and younger Clarissa this week.

Ray isn't the new Cold and this episode emphasised that nicely as Mick made the realisation too. They do continue to work brilliantly though as a team, 8/10

Hard to believe how much a show can change by adding 2 characters and scrapping two. This has now become top viewing and all because of Thawne/Dahrk and no more hawk drama. Great episode I thoight.
