Loved the way Kara said about "Earths Mightiest Heroes" - which was the strapline for The Avengers comic book - a swipe at Marvel

It was a in-joke at Melissa Benoist who was talking about the DEO set being like something Tony Stark would come up with in a interview on camera and then she went "Whoops that's Marvel!"

My favourite cheeky little "nod" of the entire crossover event was right at the end of this Legends episode when Felicity was saying how looking at Kara is like looking in the mirror, to which Ray replies "She looks like my cousin".

Supergirl's cousin is of course Superman, and Brandon Routh who plays Ray in Legends of Tomorrow also played Superman in "Superman Returns", which that little exchange was slyly referencing.

Oh that's what they meant. I forgot Brandon was Superman in Returns.

Shows how little of an impression he made. It's a shame though as I like him as Atom. (although even then I confuse him with Ant Man)

Good mid season finale. Liked the use of Eliot Ness and Al Capone in this one and seeing both Eobard and Damian recruit Malcolm into their evil little club had it's moments as well.

Seeing Sara kick the crap out of Malcolm was satisfying and I loved her scenes with Stein and Jax this week along with Mick and Amaya's scenes. Ray and Nate's grated a tiny bit though.

Nice enough use of Snart in the episode but I really do miss him full time.

What a way to reintroduce Rip though, it's pretty funny isn't it? 8/10

I presume the Rip situation is either

He's creating a film about himself in the 1960s in order to attract the other legends so they can rescue him.

Or

He's lost his memory, thinks he is a film director/writer and Rip Hunter is just a character he thinks he has just thought up. (Similar to the human nature episode of Doctor Who).

So what does Merlyn want from his new partnership? All his defeats overturned? Tommy back alive? Torchwood back on TV?

As we never saw Clarissa (Martin's wife) when he went back I wonder if in this time line she died.

And at some point he has to make the choice restore the timeline and wipe his daughter out of existence but have Clarissa alive or keep his daughter but sacrifice Clarissa?

the daughter mentioned her mother being away so she's not dead in the new timeline.

What don't these people understand about a person having the ability to move very fast?

I know lets stun the fast moving person and then talk to them for a while so they can recover and move very fast again, so fast that we can't get another shot off.

Hah, if only. I suspect it's more power orientated. Maybe Malcolm wants to lead the league once again?

I thought the guy who played Al Capone had the Chicago accent perfect, although he seemed a bit young, which is my only criticism.
Using the 1920s Chicago setting was great though, Elliot Ness, all the Untouchables (brilliant film) in jokes, and a clever way for the League of Doom to set them up.

Victor Garber was brilliant in this episode too, his speech to Sara about how Lily had become real to him thanks to the memories he was now getting was so well done even though he acknowledged she wasn't "real" to his own timeline.

Dominic Purcell continues to be one of the MVPs of the second season though, his scenes with both imaginary Snart (oh Wentworth how I miss thee) and with Amaya and I really like the friendship they're building between those two without a real hint of "romance" to it.

Loved Sara's comment to Malcolm tying in with the Invasion! Arrow episode where she had the life he was offering her and knew that it wasn't real. Made her rejection of it all the more poignant as did her later conversation with Professor Stein about Lily.

Ray & Nate's bromance continues to be comedy gold, the opening scene with Sara referring to them as siblings really was perfect, as was her I'm watching you gesturing, think I laughed more this episode than I have in a while.

So, Thawne's after the Spear of Destiny then, interesting. Wonder where they're planning to take that but it's good to see the League assembling in its villainy.

And Rip's reappearance, absolute genius!
