Is this it's own story or do you have to watch Arrow and Flash to get this? I saw trailer to this and thought it looked great.

You'll probably be able to watch this without the need to watch Flash or Arrow, though there will no doubt be elements of this show that you may not understand references etc too unless you've seen the other shows.

You can watch it easily as the references to either show are minimal

This isn't the first time I've read someone say it's just a single season series. Where is the source of this information coming from?.
There's been loads of posts all over the various review sites with the usual "unnamed sources" but it's all rumour at the moment and nothing definite.

The opening episode gives enough exposition as to where each of the characters come from that you probably don't need to watch either Arrow or The Flash.

Screenrant has a good character guide.

As I suspected. It's no doubt people that don't want (or can't see) a long-term future for this show. I doubt Savage will be dealt with by the series end either. It's possible, yet it's equally as possible that another villain will get in the way before hand.

No it's because it's supposed to be incredibly expensive with the CGI.

That's merely more rumours though. There's been no official word on it's cost, or the intention to wrap the story up after one series. Everything we know about the shows predicted fate is a rumour, or an extension of one. That's it!

At this point, I'd think Flash (with the running) was more CGI expense than Legends (though granted, we've not seen a lot of Legends yet). Still, if the rumours of cost are true, they can always focus season 2 in a specific time. Maybe the ship can get damaged, and they're stuck fighting meta humans in the mid 15th century or something.

Until there's an official post about the cost, or the cancellation of the show, I'm disinclined to believe anything about it's success or fault.

Yes I know, that's why I said it's rumours in the first place.

Just watched this.. not impressed really. I can't watch the Flash as I find it very gimmicky and cringe, and this fell into that category for me.

I think I will just stick to Arrow!

I Thought the pilot was ok, but not brillaint. I get that it had to introduce everyone that we already knew but I didn't like that everyone had to go think about if they wanted to do the mission or not, and then find out the truth about Rip so they and had to think about it all over again. That's far too much thinking in one episode.

Still, now all the BS is over with I look forward to the next episode.

Don't bet on it, next-up is "Part 2" of the same pilot!

Dammit, they better not do any thinking in this part so.

Don't think, just DO !

Second half is supposedly much better which is why it surprised me they didn't run it as a double header given that they released both episodes at the same time to the media to review.

I liked it.

The start was a bit rushed with all their intros etc but I quite enjoyed the pace overall.

Loved how Rory, sorry, Rip stole a time machine!

Also love having Caity Lotz back on my screen.

Wasn't sure about the idea that Hawkgirl and the ATOM are "insignificant" when The Flash's Gideon has a newspaper article of them fighting the Reverse Flash along with BC, GA, and the Flash. And you'd also think Firestorm would make some kind of impact as a hero.

So Rory is a Time (Lord) Master who stole a time machine and now travels with his companions? If he comes out with a future screwdriver to fix the ship and describes it as using sonic impulses to mend or something like that...I might explode.

That aside, I thought it was okay. Nothing to get excited about. Abit like this weeks Arrow, bit too much talking and plodding. Not really feeling the Hawk people either. Don't find either of them likable, especially Kufu.

Arrow was my favourite Arrowverse programme last week. I thought it was excellent.

LoT was the weakest of the three for me.

Indeed, seems like Doctor Who's creators might have been inspired by Rip Hunter as the comic came out five years before the first TV programme

Looks like Legends is loosely following the Forgotten Heroes storyline from the comics mixed in with the Hawkman/Girl origin stories.

I think Legends just suffered a bit from it being the pilot where they had so much exposition to get out because not everyone will have watched the Arrow and The Flash crossovers.

It would be rather amusing though and a bit of a tongue in cheek nod to all the Doctor Who fanatics who'll be screaming Rip's a rip off

So what is the betting for when Hawkman comes back? I'm saying he will be back the episode after next.

^ resists urge to check the shows imdb page to find out the exact ep of his return.

btw: methinks this show is best watched without thinking too much about the timey wimey time travel logic stuff.

It wouldn't help anyway, imdb is never accurate. It listed the lead star of a show asleaving midway through the season last year, needless to say he didn't.

BIB ?!
But if Hawkman was shown to only be in 2 eps that would be an indication he MIGHT not be returning this season.
And if he was shown to be in 6eps while the rest of the Legends were in... this season has 10eps, right ?!... so 10eps for the rest, then that would suggest they don't find Hawkman+1 until ep7.
