Android M - The next version of Android for 2015
While Lollipop has been out for 6 months and roll out is continuing at a slugs pace there is already some talk about the next version code named Android M.
One of the rumours is it will give users more control over app permissions, giving granular controls that will enable users to grant or deny specific permissions to apps upon installation. Personally I use App Ops Starter. But looks like they may build this into the next version of Android. Google's I/O developer conference later this month. http://www.neowin.net/news/android-m...pp-permissions https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....appopsstarter |

It seems like every other day that I see an article about the misuse of permissions by apps on the Play Store. I use App Ops on my Nexus but it is a welcome addition, it's one of the things I notice on my iPhone all the time, when it's asking for permission for photos or contacts etc.
Just as a personal wishlist for Android M I think it should be/have: A maintenance upgrade (like iOS 9 is rumoured to be), fix the memory leaks, the bugs. Proper battery control over apps, to prevent runaway battery drain. Google need to sort the amount of wake locks out, both in third party apps and in Google Play Services. Faster Animations, it feels like a step backwards sometimes from Lollipop. Tougher rules in the Google OEM agreement about carrier apps and bloatware (this is more for the US). They laid the seeds for this in lollipop. I do like to grumble about Android a lot but I do blame the OEMs more than I blame Google, they have tried to improve it by debundling a lot of stuff into Google Play Services to allow devices to be updated more directly but it's resulted in a massively bloated Google Play Services that is buggy. |

Improved SD card support will be included in Android M. Quote:
But now, with Android M, Google is introducing support for external storage in a way that no one would ever have thought possible – on Android M, the OS will adopt an SD card inserted into a device and treat it like internal storage, and allow users to install apps on the card. This is no doubt a result of Google’s new Android One initiative, which brings stock Android with direct updates to users on a budget. Since budget smartphones have very low internal storage, the fact that the microSD card will now be treated as additional internal storage will negate the limitations of low storage spaces for things like app installation.

The thing is though, it relies on manufacturer support and with Samsung moving away, that is nearly all the major OEMs not including SD card support.
I don't think the next Nexus (Nexuss) will include SD card support and I can't see LG including it in the G5 when they can make more money by selling varied capacities. |

I think samsung only moved away on their flagship phones.
According to this their new A range has sdcard slots. http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_a5-6761.php Also it wouldnt surprise me if sdcards made a comeback in their 2016 flagship. Also the s6 active which I think is their new true flagship I think will get one, and not sure about the s6 mini. http://www.phonearena.com/news/Samsu...h-cost_id67615 |

A quick look at Android M here with video. You can change theme colours and alter app permissions.
