Three: advice
Hi all,
I've been receiving those dreadded letters for about 90 days now, as well as texts from three telling me to call them. Are they actually able to force me onto the new plan if I fail to contact them or should i just ring up and face the music ? |

At least you've had it longer than others. I still haven't had letters about mine |

My other half is yet to hear too and her contract was up ages ago. I must be one of those heavy users that people hate! I'll be calling them today

Just to update you all.
I was passed onto the indian call centre who offered my a contract £17 unlimieted data (4gb tethering) unlimited texts and 200 minutes. All discounts were taken off although I have disputed this as I had a rolling discount on my account. I'll update if this is put back on. I said I refued the contract and he said he will process my PAC code....Basically playing hardball and losing customers. I did questions the decreease in tethering and he read a standard piece about overusage and then proceeded to promote the fact that android phones can get large storage cards for android phones and download 100's of GBs an alternative way. I questioned this promotion and he said he was not promoting just giving me some good tips....I don't get the logic of 100gb is 100gbwether i've done it via tethering or mobile. PS I don't download 100gb it was just an extreme example. |

That is the directive from their head office, accept a new price plan or accept a PAC, the staff have no leeway so there is no "hardball" to play.

I would be pissed off if I was you or anyone on a "Old" tariff with 3. ( I was waiting for the day EE kick me off T-mobile) They have a good data network that must of being abused to hell by people running businesses/ homes off their good speed :'). Shame. Sure they are still the best on the market for pricing tho?

d123 is spot on, there isn't any hardball just what the company is offering in terms of price plans when they end old ones.
Outside of the minimum term the agreement becomes a rolling 30 day contract until either yourself or your provider decides to end or change it, at which point you can leave with 30 days notice. They are within the terms of the contract, if you aren't happy then you can transfer to another network if you think you'll get a better deal, but you can't force a company to apply a discount any more than they could force you to stay and pay more than the agreed contract. If you look through all customers are being moved to new plans and all old ones are ending, presumably there's a business reason such as simplification ahead of billing migrations to new systems, to make it simpler to support or to end deals that aren't as profitable. |

Im still chugging along on the one plan sim only £15 deal - for now.
my 12 months ended in November last year. You say that youve been offered £17 AYCE data/Texts and 200 mins is this a rolling 1 month contract or a 12 month tie in? |

I've just joined 3 on the £17 a month in a 12 month contract. It says something about personal hotspot where you can use your mobile as a router for tablets for example. Not sure how it works though. Internet is definitely a lot faster than my last provider which was talkmobile.

iPhone, it's called Personal Hotspot, should be clear to find also. I think you get 2 or 4GB of tethering data to use, and yes, it acts as a mini router to give internet to tablets, computers, other phones, or any other device with WiFi can come in handy when out and about and someone is on O2/vodafone but wants to google something, but can't, cos they're probably on GPRS

If you're on android, it'll be in Settings, and then find Portable Hotspot or Tethering in your network settings.
