I'm not that surprised - I think Hollyoaks will keep the opportunity there in case Harry/Ste fail even more than McHay did. Maybe they'll see fan reaction (i.e. the twitter people), and if there's enough uproar about John Paul and Ste in years to come then they'll just put them back together.
