I liked Starry when I first saw them. Thought Ste was super sexy and Harry - even though I thought his acting sucked - still thought he was a cutie.

But man Harry aint nothing on Brendan. Couldnt watch Starry again after I had went back and watched Stendan. I'm afraid its Stendan or nothing for me.

Once you've seen Stendan nothing else compares. And Brendan's so iconic and layered, perfectly played by Emmett.

And as for Emmett....I admit, I had never heard of him before but WOW! He knocked my socks off - he was absolutely fab. Fantastic!

It was good to see him and to hear his delicious voice in Beowulf tonight, but I really long to see him in a part with more depth again.

After I discovered Emmett Scanlan I did go searching for his other works.....and the first thing I went and watched - and dont judge me for this LOL - was Savage.
When I watched the Stendan clips on youtube I always read the comments. And on one of the clips a woman had commented on seeing him naked in a movie called Savage. I just had to go and look

Aside from Hollyoaks I think his best role is In The Flesh, and then The Fall. But Brendan is easily the greatest of them all.

I watched The Fall (season 1 and 2) over the week-end. Great show, really enjoyed. Am looking forward to Season 3. Emmett wasnt in it as much as I had hoped but hey was still nice to see him for the small bits he was in.

I'm shocked! None of us have done that.

That was good First none Brendan thing i watched of Emmett after finishing the stendan sl. I actually thought the moustache was an Emmett thing

Watched some HO this week as needed to clear my head with something ridiculous and stupid. How long has Ste been sporting a tash? He also called someone Thomas instead of Tom (after they'd called him Stephen but still)

A question......and the answer is just all strictly your opinions......


What did you guys think of the Ste/Doug storyline? Was it put in there to drag out the Stendan story and add some spice, jealously etc? Or was the Stendan story supposed to be really over and 'Stug' was meant to be the next popular love story? (and the writers changed their mind??)

It seemed to show that Brendan still had feelings for Steven, but it really seemed to show that Steven had moved on with his life. He seemed to really dislike Brendan and resented his intrusion into his life. Now in saying that.....I didnt get to watch alot of the full episodes. Couldnt find a lot of the full older episodes. There was one user on there that had all Brendan clips from episodes so could watch it that way...but of course by watching it that way, alot of story would be missing. Were there episodes featuring Steven (episodes before his wedding) that show he still had feelings for Brendan?

Personally at the time I had the conspiracy theory that it was to builld up to when Stendan eventually got together, making it sweeter. Though I'm doubting that very much now as it brought on a load of angry Stug fans You just never know with HO, though they were better back then than since Bryan Kirkwood has returned!

I've never known for sure. I'm 50/50 over whether Stug was meant to be a long term thing and Ste and Brendan were meant to be over for good, or whether they were always just a plot device.

Stug were promoted so much on twitter (it was nauseating), but then again it's hard to imagine what they would have done with Brendan if they had no plan to pursue Stendan. I know there were/are Brendan fans who dislike Stendan or couldn't care less if they were together, but I still think it's difficult to imagine him simply doing dodgy deals for a year before his exit, and it's impossible to think that he'd have moved on to another man and found love.

I think possibly Emma Smithwick, the executive producer at the time, did plan for them to be together at some point. But maybe they brought forward the reunion when they realised that Stendan fans weren't going anywhere, and that we weren't simply going to fall in love with Stug. Plus I think Emmett desperately wanted Brendan to evolve, much as I'm sure he also loved the bad ass stuff (which luckily he still got plenty of even when Stendan became a couple.) And Kieron, much as he adored working with PJ, seemed to me to always want that Stendan boyfriend fantasy
