Well there did appear to be a conclusion but I guess they could continue the investigation or start a new story in the second series.

I don't even think vista's would be a problem I mean Ste was going to move there with Doug and they, never mention vistas
besides I would think they would want to live in Ireland to be closer to Brendan's kids, either way Amy and Brendan's ex would be a problem

That was just the show being inaccurate for the sake of the plot. I think it would have been impossible for Ste to really get a visa.
