It's patently obvious watching Selby now though that he still struggles very badly with the breakbuilding facet of the game, hence his willingness to be on the constant lookout for other means of winning frames.

Is it taking the game back to the snooker dark ages? In my opinion it probably is. I'm not saying everyone should be able to play, or should try to play, like Ronnie, but I do think a World champion should possess at least some degree of breakbuilding fluency.”

As mentioned by others your argument is contradicted by the fact Selby is 5th highest for centuries. And is ahead of Murphy. What you could perhaps take from Murphy's comments is that Selby deserves great credit for how hard he has worked on his game. To the point where he is now one of the great break builders.

Yes he is. On CueTracker Ding is 6th highest for centuries. Also I noticed that Marco Fu is 7th. So despite the shock exits, 3 of the 7 highest century makers were in the semi-finals.

Think Ding got slightly lucky that the cue ball missed the two reds there, so despite missing the black, nothing's really on.

And what kind of shot was that from Selby? Another awful one after being let off.

Snooker was on Sky, they dropped it.

Regarding great break builders. Remember that Neil Robertson never used to be one of the best until Stephen Hendry called it amateurish!

He then made 103 the following season and is now that 4th highest on the all time list.

Is there a chance they wont get all 8 frames in during the afternoon session ?

Mark Selby and the 500ft snooker cue.

They don't use the extended one underneath the side of the table like whats in clubs. I remember using them. Forget about screwing back, hitting the white was hard enough.

For someone who's meant to be boring Selby's taking on a lot of unnecessary risks this afternoon.

Dave Hendon just said on Twitter this could be the last frame this afternoon. Cut off is 5pm-ish so they definitely won't get all eight frames in.

Could be a very late night tonight.

Looking like Selby's day. Ding just can't get his nose in front.

Selby 2-0 up in the mini-session; 3-3 in the session as a whole; 13-10 in the match.

Yes although it's never used for obvious reasons.

Need a Ding win here in one of these frames. His long potting has been excellent.

"This 52 break will hopefully win the frame."

No bias there from the BBC commentators.

Why does Ding get his first name used for the score instead of his surname like everyone else?!

His family name is Ding.

Many Asian countries put the family name first.

All over now for this frame. Bit of luck for Ding there - both with Selby's unfortunate miss and the first red Ding potted second time around.
