Darren Morgan won 4-3! That was a (qualifying) round before the first round proper though.

Bad news for Kyren Wilson fans that he's had to pull out through illness at the last minute

So, just wondering how all you snooker fans filled in your time during the long boring close season since May Bank Holiday there. Must have seemed endless at times.

For us pure snooker fans we've actually had some snooker to keep us mildly entertained.

Firstly, Q school just a week after the world championship finished followed by a week of qualifying matches for the tournaments that are playing now and next month!

Won his next match as well 4-2 against amateur Adam Stefanow! He'll play Zhao Xintong next and if he wins that could play Ken Doherty in the last 16!

Yep, Darren's just won again - 4-1 to boot - Ken in a decider with Jack Lisowski.....

....Ken won 4-3 on the final black!

Incredible. Darren Morgan does it again, wins 4-3 against Ken Doherty to reach the Quarter Finals!

Would be amazing if he won it. A professional for 19 years but wins his first ranking title as an amateur after retiring!

He's still going! Morgan defeats Guodong 4-2 to make the semi finals. He'll do well to beat Robbo there though, who's just knocked out Trump 4-1.

Darren Morgan?! Wow there's a blast from the past!

^ First semi-final since 1999!

Thus far and no further for Morgan though, walloped 5-0 in the semi by Robbo. Still, the first player of 50+ to reach a major SF since Rex Williams in the 1986 Grand Prix, and, it seems, the first amateur to reach a major ranking semi final EVER!

Holty was 0-61 down to Willo in the penultimate frame but did brilliantly to force a decider at 4-4.

Now he's knocked in a 66 to lead 66-0 with 75 left in said decider. Can he hold it together / will he get another chance to make his first major final?

Edit: Willo missed yellow clearing up, Holt potted what was match ball
barring snooks.....

Well it seemed all sorts happened at the end there, but bottom line is Holty got home on the brown to reach his first ever major ranking final in 20 years as a pro. As he supports Forest, pretty chuffed for him

Congrats to Robbo, winner of the first of 18 (!) ranking events this season.

Fluking frame ball to go 4-2 ahead was key in the final analysis.

Well done to robbo now on to India shame Eurosport can't be bothered to show it on tv some deal

Well done Robertson. Great week for Holty, I wouldn't be surprised to see him in another final at some point this season. Playing well at the moment.

Looking forward to watching the Indian Open on my Eurosport player in a couple of weeks. Great deal at just £2.99 a month (just 75p per week... under 11p per day!). Or failing that, watch it on betting sites for free.

At least there are ways to watch it... better than not having it available to watch at all.

Eurosport have the rights to this but not the UK TV rights if I am not mistaken. Its on in Europe, hence on the Eurosport Player.

You will have to show me that because that's not what I read - below are extracts from the deal announcement on World Snooker

The agreement is an extension of its exclusive European rights to 18 tournaments of the World Snooker Tour,

Eurosport has also secured the rights for the Indian Open, Paul Hunter Classic, 6 Reds World Championship and the Shoot Out (excluding the UK)

Is the uk not in Europe and it is only the shoot out they can't show in the uk but why if right about the uk deal the only ranking event they don't show in the uk is India

No, not any more!

Anyway, well done to Robertson, and what a run from Darren Morgan!

Good to have some snooker on TV (good old Eurosport) - proved a welcome distraction these past few days.

Eurosport UK and Eurosport International are not the same channel at all times. The statement says Europe NOT the UK. There are lots of events Eurosport International show that isn't on live on Eurosport UK because they don't have the UK rights to it. This is one.

The TV rights to it are held by Sony TV so it might be ( I genuinely am guessing) on Sony TV Asia in the UK, which is a subscription channel
