Yep, needed to be very accurate with how tight it was.

Back in the top 16 now, glad he got back in there so quickly. He could be going to the Masters now and deservedly so.

Watched an old episode of Big Break last night with appearances by a young Paul Hunter, Dennis Taylor and a guy I can't recall ever hearing of before called Martin Clark.

It's part of the BBC4 Quiz Show Collections

Yep couldn't agree more. Was out all day so had to content myself with just the highlights edition this evening. Although he didn't appear to show it that must have been a very emotional triumph for Ali.

Very decent was Martin back in the day, top 16 player but career cut short due to neck problems. He went on to get a tournament organisation job with World Snooker, a position I think he's still in.

He was never a threat on tour though even before his back problems.

Mind you he's not already there now the way he would have been in the old antiquated system.

Well I did say he was very decent not a world beater - i.e made numerous quarter finals which you hardly do if you're 'unthreatening'.

I have checked Eurosport TV listings for UK and Germany but can't find the Paul Hunter Classic showing live on either ESP1 or ESP2. World Snooker are promoting Eurosport as having it available on the Eurosport Player.

Is this a new strategy by Eurosport to put snooker online only? If so, that is a retrograde move, as it will deny access to the sport to many in Europe, and UK, who won't stump up the monthly subs. on top of their Sky / Virgin or whoever else subs.

Didn't expect world championship qualifiers to be on TV. Even if it's only the final round I'll look forward to that, always high on drama.

Does seem a bit arseholes about face that when it was a minor ranker the Paul Hunter ClSsic was live on Eurosport, now that it's a major its relegated to Eurosport Player only....

Very disappointing, was looking forward to seeing some live snooker this weekend.

Eurosport have a lot of motorsport and cycling live though so it's debateable how much snooker would have been shown anyway.

I have tweeted them to ask why but no reply as of yet.

I had forgotten that this event was now a major

Who did you ask Darren?

Dave Hendon probably the best person to ask, or maybe even Rolf Kalb.

Finally upgraded my TV to a Samsung Smart TV, partly to access the Eurosport player, only to find that a few days after my new TV arrived the player has been discontinued on Smart TV's. Great job Eurosport! Well done!

Might have a scout around the German channels, perhaps WDR has nabbed it, or Sport Eins.

I feel your pain, as another option you can Access the Eurosport Player on the Amazon Fire TV stick, which is currently £30. This is what i use and it works well.

Do I see an effect of the change in ownership of Eurosport to Discovery Networks resulting in US corporate greed?

What will be next? Can we expect some winter sport to be hidden behind the Eurosport Player paywall?

No. If you see my last reply to you you will see they are showing shed loads of televised snooker, just not this one.

I know I've already posted this once but nobody is taking any notice.

The're not showing it because of the sheer volume of other live sport they have at the weekend. Pretty obvious when yoiu look at the schedules.

Great day for Jimmy White in Germany! Won three matches to get through to the last 16 on Sunday.

Mark Selby also through to last 16 as well as 16 year old Yan Bingtao.
