Bet Hearn is loving all these snooker players coming out on telly saying they're skint 😂

One of the most dramatic two frames I've seen in a long time. And a dramatic final. Brilliant comeback from 5-1 down.

This won't be the last we hear about players being skint. Anyone else apart from Hamilton and Mark King said about being skint cos of the tour?

What a terrific frank interview with our champion there. Talked about his demons and came across as a real heart on his sleeve guy.

So pleased for Mark

Massive plus points for Eurosport too. Great host in Colin Murray, superb commentary team and Ronnie has turned out to be a rather good pundit. Getting Dennis in was inspired too. The fact that we haven't heard from Mike Hallett is purely coincidental

What a fantastic end to the final, delighted for Mark King. His post match interview was very heartwarming.

Goes to show you don't always need the 'big name' players in finals to make it great viewing.

Agreed.

A wonderful tournament, and well done Mark King.

Mark Allen, never short of a word or two, went on record about it about a year ago I recall - not so much for him obviously but mid to lower ranked players.

Only the top 40 have earned over 90 grand over two years - which if you deduct the purported 25 grand a year it costs to tour leaves a a very mediocre 20K per annum. Even with sponsorship to cover a lot of the expenses you're really up against it.

It was a honest terrific interview from Mark King. He'll be in the 2017 Champion of Champions for sure hopefully.

Agree fully with all of this. It was my first time of seeing the Eurosport commentary team and, on the whole, I thought they were superb. Colin was a tremendous host and a better MC than both Rob Walker and Mark Johnston-Allen (admittedly, not difficult on that one). Neal is one of the best pundits going and Ronnie was far better than I ever imagined he would be. I also enjoyed the backstage footage where they had Ronnie coaching and offering advice to some of the young Chinese lads. Jimmy is okay, but I don't know what happened to Dennis Taylor? Maybe it was because the tournament was held in Northern Ireland, maybe it was because he was working with someone new, but it was the best I've heard from him in a long, long time. He also kept the 'jokes' to a minimum which was a huge plus point. Just shows what can happen when you take someone away from Virgo! My only criticism for the commentary team would be Joe Johnson.

Onto the final and probably one of the most gripping games of Snooker I've ever seen, especially the penultimate frame and when Mark managed to get the pink touching the black and forcing the foul. Huge kudos to Mark as well for being so honest in his most match interview, talking about being pretty awful to his wife, his gambling addiction and how he visits GA once a week to keep him on the straight and narrow. Top bloke!

You've played one there Darren. And that's fair enough.

Neil Foulds is the best pundit bar none. Hope Eurosport use him more.
Murray didn't seem as annoying as usual either but I can't see at all what Jimmy White brings beyond name value.

Didn't see much of the final. Watched it from 5:5. I recorded it from 9pm to watch next day. unfortunately recording ended at 8:8 on the green. Had to find another showing which I did and managed to see it. Very well done to mark. Loved the interview at the end although did Colin actually speak to Barry as well?

Interesting comments from Rory McLeod regarding being the only black player on the tour.

Think so because he had to hold Mark back from going up first to collect what would have been the runners up cheque, didn't he

UK Championships underway today after a whole day without snooker ......and a great fightback from Igor Figueiredo from 1-4 to lead Ding 5-4. However Ding has just levelled so we're into a decider. Coverage available on Eurosport player and betting sites until Saturday when the Beeb and Eurosport proper take up the action.

Trailing 61-1 in the decider and having snookered himself Ding looked out, but a poor safety from Igor and Ding dishes with 74. Great nerve.

Thought for a second Ding was going to be the victim of a major shock there.

Meanwhile the Hawk won 6-0, putting his final disappointment of Sunday behind him. Kind of wish I was going up to York to see the UK now.

However, my all day ticket for Monday 16th January for the Masters has arrived, hurrah for that

It was last year I went to the UK Champs but I am off the week after this year so a no show for me. Shame because the quarter final tickets last year were only £6 each

Is there a way of watching today's matches for free?. Eurosport Player charges £4.99 and it's not on TV until Saturday.

Open a Bet365 account with £10 then put it on Aditya Mehta to beat Luca Brecel @ 7/4. You will then have free snooker forever. Hurrah!!

Malarkey in the King v Craigie game:

"King was docked a frame after the interval: he was late as he forgot his cue and had to return to get it. He made a 141, the highest break of the event so far, in the next frame."
