Is there a way of watching today's matches for free?. Eurosport Player charges £4.99 and it's not on TV until Saturday.
I pay £2.99 a month for it on iPad. Or as TC said, open a bet365 account, you don't have to use the account just top up once and you can watch it forever.

Hope you didn't take up TC's tip of putting £10 on Aditya Mehta to beat Luca Brecel though as the latter won 6-0!

No Wonder my account balance is £0.01

Seriously though it's good to see Luca seemingly playing confidently again. Hopefully he can build on beating Murphy in the last tournament and have a good run in the UK like he did a few years back

Talking of the last tournament, the winner of the Northern Ireland Open, Mark King, has just been knocked out 6-2 by Sam Craigie. Understable perhaps if after his heroics Sunday there was little left in the tank mentally. Great win for Craigie though.

Ronnie O'Sullivan played his first round match tonight. Took one hour and twenty minutes (including interval).

He won 6-0, made three centuries, a 90, an 80 and a 63. Incredible.

Went on too late for me but woke up to find the defending champ Robbo succumbed 6-3 to Peter Lines - big shocker that obviously.

Don't know what's up with Neil, he's having a very mediocre season by his standards. Peter is of amateur status now too - although is probably as good still as a lot of the mid to lower ranked pros on his day.

Still, all nearly as surprising as Angles coming back from 0-5 to win a decider (v Wild)!

UK Championship started today on TV. Mark Selby and John Higgins both tested this afternoon winning 6-4 against Daniel Wells and Noppon Saengkham respectively.

Tonight Fergal O'Brien has just produced an incredible performance making no fewer than five centuries in beating Barry Hawkins 6-5!

Peter Lines through to the last 32. Some going for an 'amateur' and the conqueror of Robbo

Fantastic result for Oliver and thoroughly merited. The Lines family ripping through the top seeds!

Both got decent draws as well.
Felt a bit sorry for Judd tonight, obviously his namesake has used up all of the Trump luck recently.

Cracking result for Oliver Lines, and he played properly, went for the right shots, and held the nerve when needed.

With Judd Trump, Stuart Bingham and Neil Robertson out, I think there may be some more shocks to come yet, and all the better for it.

Well done Mark Allen on making a 147 at last too - I was there seeing his 146 at the Crucible back in 2010 (he was out of position on about the fourth black so went for pink, then cleaned up from there) so always good to get that one done.

Yes both have perfectly winnable games. Not unique for a father and son to both reach a last 32 but Neal and (more pertinently) Geoff Foulds wouldn't have been in a last 16 simultaneously

Just watching the late night highlights and there's a guy called Muir playing wearing a black fingerless glove on his bridge hand.

How on earth is that allowed by the WPBSA?

I wish Mark King had worn one last week - cover up his ugly tattooed hands 😛

I just thought that it could be regarded as an unfair artificial aid in delivering the cue.

Nah perfectly legal Jase - down the years several players have used one....Paddy Browne, Dene O'Kane and Nigel Gilbert spring to mind

Edit: well, not exactly spring....spent the last fifteen minutes trying to remember Paddy

Been enjoying the UK Championship so far, even though most of the time during the evenings it's been BBC Red Button coverage rather than live on BBC2.

On the other tables, Luca Brecel is close to wrapping up victory over Yu De Lu, and Mei Xi Wen is pulling it back to 3-2 down against Marco Fu, having been 3-0 behind.

Steve Davis mentioned in commentary how John Higgins can pull something out of the fire when needed, when not playing well. Willie then reminded him of Steve's ability to do the same - well they all learned from the master
