Quick question regarding EuroSport.

All night, there has only been one match on and Dave Hendon and Mike Hallett were commentating. They're now showing the other match live as Selby/Selt has finished. Joe Johnson and someone else is commentating...

I presume they have been doing this match all night, so who have they been commentating to? Eurosport player had live coverage of this match but there is no commentary on the Eurosport player.

Is the commentary just for the highlights or something? Always baffled me.

Eurosport International probably. That is also the reason why if the game on BE1 finishes first the game on BE2 will move to it, because its also on Eurosport International.

Down to a few snookers now - tough luck on Grace if he does lose having just been one red from winning and completing another comeback.

24 points gone with a foul and a miss. It's Gould's for the taking

David Grace wins through though!

He blew is.

Well done David Grace - can he go and beat Wembo in the semis?

Wow! what a fantastic comeback from David Grace! who on earth would have predicted David Grace to be in the semi finals of the UK Championship?!

What an unbelievable week he has had! come out of nowhere!

Brilliant win for Grace, conversely that's at least the third high profile tv match where Gouldy has lost from a massive lead. He must be inconsolable poor fella

Only consolation I guess is that it wasn't actually on TV until it was 5-3! not that it will make much difference to how he feels of course.

Unusual times really. One journeyman at 30 almost gets a 147 then another is in the semis. Is this showing that the open system gives these guys a chance? Alternatively is this showing that the best players are hampered by the open system? Certainly there is a feel-good factor when good players see some glory after years of being in the shadows (obvious example being Bingham, albeit his story was not quite the same as these guys).

Well done to robbo. Shame John looked like he got a kick on green. I'm still not a big fan of the reduced frames. I remember the original format of best 17 and final best of 31. Wish it would go back to that.
Mind you the final was cut to the best of 19 in the 1990`s. The 1992 final was the tournament’s last ever best of 31 final.

Still you had to win at least 6 matches to become the champion with the top 16 coming in at the last 64. Then a few years later the top 16 suddenly came in at the last 32 so then you had to win at least 5 matches to become the champion.

So the cutting of the tournament had already began long before Hearn had joined the WPBSA. By the cut of the tournament under Hearn as chairman is a cut too far.

Maybe a return to the best of 17 in the early stages under a future chairman, who knows, but no chance of the best of 31 final ever returning though. A best of 19 semis and best of 25 final would be a good though.

I apologise if it's already been covered, but why is Ronnie not participating in this tournament? If he's cutting down on tournaments & going in to semi-retirement then I would've thought that the second most important tournament in the sport was not one to be missed......

think it was either medical reasons or not prepared to play or something.

He has confirmed though that he will play the Masters next month and the German Masters in February (although the opening two rounds will played in a couple of weeks).

I just doesn`t feel like 2nd biggest tournament anymore for me because of the frame reduction. I remember the interveiw hearn gave a few years ago explaining reason for it saying fans wanted less sessions and if they demand it then he`ll make it happen. i was concerned that the same would happen to worlds and him saying there are no plans but would consider it if fans again demanded it. that format should never be touched, i don`t care how many fans want a change. it they don`t like it then tough.

Strange game Snooker. Watching Wenbo today I'm struggling to believe he beat Judd Trump .. but he did. And he's in the semi as a result. Grace has had a rather easier run into the semis. But I think the format does allow more players a chance and I think it illustrates that the game is quite open now. It's quite an unpredictable sport when you think about it. One tournament a player is a finalist the next they don't reach the semis. Only Robertson and Selby seem certain to reach the last stages but even they go out early sometimes.

The only shame about this particular tournament is the final is going to be a walk over. Hendry just said it.. the other semi is the final now.

Yeah can`t see how either selby or robbo can lose the final although with snooker you never know.

Limit being introduced to loo breaks. Long overdue imho. It did seem a bit odd that players always seemed to vanish to the gents whenever they won a close frame etc. That's clearly not what it was intended for. It's not as if they're consuming lots of water during the games.

Could this match go on for another few hours as each frame is lasting nearly half an hour

Can you imagine Peter Edbon and Graeme Dott having a Shot clock in their matches

Don't understand why Graeme Dott has a reputation as a slow player. When he's in amongst the balls, he's actually very fluent.

Wenbo is 3-3 in head to heads with Selby and only 4-3 down to Robbo if that helps!
