No mean counterclearance that by Robbo considering the position of the last two reds 👏🏻👏🏻

Robbo really does look so focused.

Really interesting observation that.. the game isn't as safety dominated now is it?

I'm glad it isn't - makes it more exciting to watch.

Costly miss on the thinnish red by Wenbo, Robbo doing just enough to keep him at arms length to lead 8-5.

Well done Neil Robertson. Fully deserved champion. He was the best player of the week and best in the world at the moment too.

He could definitely win the Masters next month and possibly then the triple crown in April/May.

Been a excellent Tournament, I've really enjoyed it for so many different reasons.

Nice match. First time I've really enjoyed watching snooker since Paul Hunter died. I hope Liang goes on to win a final at some point.

That turned out to be a pretty good final all round, even if you took away the 147 from it.

As in the semi final, it was a case of Neil Robertson being able to capitalise on errors and win the frame. No doubt the clearance to win frame 11 was absolutely crucial, one error made by Liang Wenbo, and an awesome clearance to win that one, which set him up nicely.

Liang has been entertaining to watch though and of course he'd already won one major battle to get to the top 16 and qualify for The Masters, so well done to him for that. He played some good stuff at times but maybe might look at slightly toning down the antics on the table - maybe if he concentrated a little more he'd be an even better player. It was good of him though to be so sporting when the 147 was being achieved, and that certainly will endear him to lots of people.

Clearly with the Champion of Champions and UK under his belt, Robertson should start as favourite for the Masters next month.

Well done Neil Robertson. Good final.

Enjoyable tournament.

The governing body really needs to take the BBC to task over their commentators constantly talking about events that have just taken place, in an effort to make the crowd laugh. It's totally off-putting for the players, as they haven't a clue what's going on!

It's Eurosport for me these days. The beeb comms have become insufferable.
The only decent two are Davis and Hendry imo. Hendry is the antithesis of the likes of Thorne, Virgo and Taylor.

Just watching highlights now. Looks like theyd have a bigger crowd in a local snooker club.

Whatever possessed World Snooker to play a European Tour event in Gibraltar? Surely a country with easy road access, a reasonably large population, some history of supporting snooker, would have been a better choice - for example Belgium or The Netherlands, where in previous years both have held tour events, and both have been well supported.

I'm guessing that Dafabet's money talked - and that's one of the problems with Snooker sponsorship just now - Hearn's marketing people spend too much time with the bookies!

Or it could be that they put in for it and the Netherlands or Belgium didn't ? It is all about spreading the word and new events take time. By your argument snooker tournaments should only be held in places where it is already popular. What does that achieve long term ?

Absolutely not! Snooker needs to spread the word, but does a British outpost on the edge of Spain, which due to politics is difficult to get to by surface means really a good choice?

Next year, as I understand it the European Tour is being reigned in, in favour of more tournaments in the British Isles, which I feel sure will be sponsored by the usual suspects (the online betting industry). This is doing exactly what you are berating me for arguing in favour of. Actually, I firmly believe that snooker has got to become less UK-centric. Playing qualifiers for the German masters in UK does nothing to further promote the game there, and help struggling would be continental players to make progress, by keeping their costs down.

It would greatly surprise me is Gibraltar was chosen only because nobody else on the continent wanted the tournament. I guess, however, if World Snooker is interested in maximising profit, rather than expanding the game further in Europe, then they are probably on the right road for them.

It is not difficult to get to. I have been and it was easy. You can get flights there very easily.

As for the German Masters, well it is a proper ranking event not a PTC tournament so chances are the young struggling continental players you mention wouldnt be in it anyway.

Try flying to GIB from anywhere that isn't a UK airport. I think you'll find that flying to GIB from the rest of Europe is nigh on impossible; leaving the only point of European access being the road crossing, which because of UK / Spanish politics can be extremely tortuous.

You are looking for problems rather than solutions.

The vast majority of players would have come from the UK or at least being based in the UK. I would estimate about 95% of the field.

As for the Spanish/UK politics I think you are wrong on that. You can fly into Malaga and get a bus to Gib. Or hire a car, it isn't tricky at all.

Ronnie's comeback in the German Masters qualifiers ends in disappointment as he loses 5-3 to Stuart Carrington. Other high profile casualties not making the trip to Berlin include Neil Robertson and Ding Junhui, who, at this rate, may end up in the qualifiers for the World Championships 😬

Add John Higgins to that list TC who loses 5-3 to Ian Burns.

Joe Perry not out of the woods yet either against Rory McLeod.
