Nice to hear Willy back in the comm box especially with all his health issues lately (wasn't at the masters recently)

He never commentates on the Masters so his health scare wasn't the reason he was absent. I think he is fully recovered by the look of things

Does he not? didn't know that

Looking very much like Nigel Bond has decided to call it a day now. Shame, still playing at a decent level. Good player over the years

Good win for Jimmy over Dominic Dale. Glad he's avoided Milkins potentially in the semis too.

Or Dark Mavis, rather 😛

In the ideal Seniors World, Darren Morgan v Jimmy should be the final. The other semi has two players who are full time on the tour and younger than me

Not yet, sadly. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news...r-wont-7278932

Blinding long red looks like clinching Morgan a place in the final over White...

I think winner could come from this 2nd semi although daz played well but i think these would be too good for him.

Who here hates the sound of when the Shot clock appears it reminds of some Quiz show i used to watch

I'd like to revise my previous prediction. Yes hate the sound of it.

So for the second year in a row the World Seniors Champion is a player in the top 32 and on the main tour. Crackers

Nice to see Alan Chamberlain again

Oh well at least this years winner was older than last years!. Well played Dark Mavis.

I wonder if they could get Ray Reardon out of retirement

At 83 years of age that's a tad unlikely though he did make a 'playing' appearance at a seniors event in 2010.

I would have thought he viewing figures would have been absolutely miniscule.
The matches all would have been a million miles away from the TV table in a regular tournament.
Either put it back to over 50's or kill it once and for all.

That was the last year of Sky's contract. As Tony Francis son, Barney, is a snooker hater (bit of an irony considering Tony used to be ITV / CH4 anchorman back in the day) is high up at Sky and has a big say in such matters, I doubt whether they'll take it up again.

Televised stages of the German Masters begin on Eurosport at 2pm today then.

Matt Smith will be the studio host as Colin Murray couldn't make it, with a mixture of Neal Foulds, Jimmy White, Ronnie O'Sullivan and Neil Robertson providing the analysis.

Comfortable win for Mark Selby.

Always good to see Ali Carter on the telly after everything he's been through, and this, the pick of the last 32, should be a cracker against Trump.

Nice to see Matt Smith getting a decent gig. Was a shame he was dropped from ITV as he's versatile.

Excellent win for Maguire defeating the defending champion Selby 5-3.

Superlative stuff from Trump again tonight too, winning 5-1 over Zhang Anda including three tons, the last a near max, failing on the yellow.

Trump lost tonight though to Martin Gould and Graeme Dott also caused a surprise.

Wide open- maybe Wilson can win another title?

Massive bit of running Gouldy got in fluking the snooker on the last red, but I thought he deserved it overall. Trump's current Achilles heel seems to be following up a brilliant performance with sufficiently good ones to go all the way....
