In the China Open qualifiers tonight, Kyren Wilson and Anthony Hamilton broke the record for the most consecutive centuries in a match......6!

Kyren made 4 of them and Anthony made the other two as Kyren led 4-3. He could have made a 5th in the final frame but broke down on 68. (Only Ronnie O'Sullivan has made 5 centuries in a best of 9 match before).

Didn't the final frame start with a free ball too? I heard he was on for a break of 150!

It did indeed but he broke down on about 30 something. The 68 came a little bit later in the frame!

Good to see ITV coverage of the Shootout. Jill Douglas is a fine presenter and not an a*** licker like Andy Goldstein seems to be. Sticking with my tip of Mark Allen to win. Nice that Stuart Bingham is there, the 'egg' always plays every tournament, great attitude. Shame a few of the top 16 are missing.

I feel a bit guilty for not going as The Hexagon is only about 20-25 miles from me, and I always used to attend in the Rothmans Grand Prix days.

I find the concept very entertaining I have to say, just too many noobs in the audience but let's try not to be too sniffy at that.

Amused me that last night we had a higher break in the shootout last night, Gilbert's classy 127 total clearance, than we did in last week's German Masters (only 125 by Trump)!

Just had a punt on Thepchaiya Un-Nooh @ 50/1. Was going to go for him yesterday but when I remembered (just after 6:30!) it was too late.

As for David Gilbert. Considering the presenters said he'd just gone favourite, 50/1 is not a bad price for him!

Agree about Bingham. Whilst he may well have been a very poor World champion when it comes to his quality of play ever since (he was always going to be a "Joe Johnson one off" type of champ) no-one can fault him for his commitment to the game and he is certainly doing his part as World champ" when it comes to being a good ambassador.
Enjoying this tournament so far, anyone could win in all reality. Not too impressed though by whoever is controlling the shot clock!!...all the balls have often stopped moving for a second or two before it starts counting down, especially when the 10 second shot clock is in operation.
Am impressed though by the cute blonde referee!!

I can't bear the shootout. I watched for 20 minutes or so yesterday, and have tried it again today, but I just dislike it so much. But then again, I suppose middle aged women aren't their target audience.

I just watched a frame where the player urged the referee to check whether it was a touching ball. Surely she shouldn't need prompting like that?

Which players decided not to enter the shootout?

The shootout is a bit like snooker with the darts atmosphere.

No Ronnie O'Sullivan, Mark Selby, Ding Junhui or Neil Robertson. The rest of the top 16 are/were there. No Stephen Maguire too

What a mirthsome chuckle it would be if Rod Lawler, fat, in his mid- 40's and renowned as the slowest player on the circuit, wins this tomorrow.

Enjoying ITV's coverage of this. Jill Douglas is a great presenter and interviewer and they have a good commentary team. Plus its the old ITV 'treat everyone the same' ethos they employ when showing darts. Good stuff

Yeah its good stuff. Would be good to see ITV have more snooker like this on TV live.

I think they need to play more than one frame, maybe best of 3. But keep the shot clock and the high tempo and move this into more competitions that can go on channels like ITV4.

This sort of format has got people like myself back interested in the game again. I've watched more snooker today, than I have for years.

As much as I like the shootout, once a year is enough. The fact that Ronnie, Selby, Ding and Robbie are not playing shows its not a priority to the big guys. TV companies wouldn't want too many tournaments without them

Anyone seen any viewing figures for this? Would be interesting to see how it's performing for ITV4.

Not yet. Might be a bit early for actual viewing figures. I'd estimate around 350-400,000
