Me neither TC. I just whizzed the old Sky remote back and paused it. The clock was on 00.0 when he struck it

Yes chaps, twitter's buzzing in agreement too - should've been a respotted blue. Thought they were too quick to award it to the Outlaw.

Didn't see it... don't they have Bulk Line Technology or something similar?!

Don't know but they only had to play the VT back a couple of times to make sure. Apparently Gary has requested a replay but been denied.

I paused the World Snooker video on Twitter and it's definitely on zero before he hit it. If on Twitter look at my last post

Yep saw and retweeted that, plus there's a replay coming up now...

That's not too bad.

That's what the darts got last week so basing it on that.

ITV 4 isn't doing too bad for ITV. They appear to be making it a FTA EuroSport, just lacking some of the live sport.

But how accurate is that on screen timer. As he does hit it before the beeps come on. This probably shows the screen timer is different to the actual match one?

Why did this event move from sky to ITV and Blackpool to reading

Suspect either:

Sky didn't want it?
ITV paid more than sky for it?
Snooker wanted a more main stream broadcaster?

Two finals in a row for Luca, what a couple of weeks for him.

Sky didn't want it. All they show now is the seniors and I understand that is coming to an end.

I guess that should be ITV's gain. I wonder if they will try to pick up pool as well? I think sky are really trying to cut back spending on all these sports, seems the focus is the football and major rights these days

Great to see Robin Hull in the final after all his illnesses and setbacks. Love to see him win it.

Luca's Achilles heel the occasional missed dolly costs him the title! Congrats to Robin, thrilling finale

Great final! Delighted for Robin Hull, as I said on Twitter... if anyone deserves that moment, Robin does!

Don't think it has much to do with the football etc, the cost for snooker will be low and pool minimal, it boils down to viewing figures I guess and if they are worth it for the outlay. When you think of snooker on TV you don't think Sky Sports do you ? Its BBC and/or Eurosport that spring to mind. It is really only snooker fans who will watch it on there not the casual fan I guess.

To some extent your right, but sky sports focus is clearly changing. It used to be about gobbling up every sport and getting people to pay for that access. Now the focus isn't the same, they seem to have main sports that they are focused on.

Given the f1 cost and lack of subscriber pull power, even that could be at risk. Sky just want sports that pull a subscription.

I think the format is setup for a one frame knockout.
It's the modern fast paced glitzy equivalent of Pot Black.

Disagree. Sky have never tried to gobble up snooker. They have hardly shown it and what they did, died without trace. Snooker has nowhere near the following it had, it is well behind darts in terms of priority for sky.

Sky are evaluating all aspects of their portfolio. It's clear they are changing focus. You only have to talk to people in the industry who say that sky is focused on spending more on high quality, revenue drivers.

Looks like that's the PL and big ticket sports events. There are meant to be many sports organisations that are worried about what , if anything they will be offered for rights from Sky.

Sky never had a serious contender before, now in BT Sport they have. But don't worry about Sky, they still make billions ( not millions ) every year
