Just can't wrap my head around this, why wouldn't you go for the 147? He could've done it for the fans and then donated the 10k to charity if it meant that little to him.just mind boggling.

I've seen the video on the BBC Sport app, when he played for the pink he looked up at the commentary box and grinned. He knows what he's doing, he wants all the attention all the time.

Barry Hearn is adding to the drama on twitter but he knows Ronnie is box office and he knows this little incident has got this particular tournament on the sports pages of the websites. So he won't care. All publicity is good publicity.

There is no guarantee he'd have got the 147 of course. The red did seem a little difficult to position if he'd gone for the black. Who knows.

You've got to love Ronnie. Personally I think it's ridiculous that the money rolls over at all. I would have a fixed £25,000 in all televised tournaments irrespective of whether it was won in the previous tournament or not. Robbo won £40,000 for the 147 at the UK, but it wasn't any more worthy than this one (or any less). That is both a nice reward for such an achievement and wouldn't be a massive financial burden on the authorities.

If it is a £10,000 accumulative 147 pot per tournament then if someone wins it after 5 tournaments, the total is the exact same if it is him getting it twice.

His maths looks seriously flawed. He has lost himself 10 grand if he does not get the next 147!
I wonder if his missus told him he is a plonker on this one yet?

As for Ronnie, he's there to win snooker matches, not to win them by making 147 breaks. Totally unacceptable of big mouth Hearn to do his usual in public after someone does somthing he doesn't like. I wouldn't blame Ronnie for permanently quitting the game. I'd love to see the look on the Essex Gobshite's face when he realises O'Sullivan's the only player the public want to watch, and that without him, the sport is dead in the water.

Serves the idiot organisers right, used to be loads more for maximums and last I checked they've not got any easier to make. Anyway, they've got more publicity for this little tournament out of this than if Ronnie had made another 147. Even Willie Thorne commentating found it funny

The frame was already won, he had nothing to lose except the high break prize which is only 20% of what he would have got for a 147. All he succeeded in doing was letting down those fans who were there. The crowd like to see a 147, we like to see a 147, and he let them down because he doesn't care. You love him, he doesn't give a monkeys about you. A disgraceful attitude which you would not get from ANY other player. He bangs on about how he suffers with bipolar and depression, well he could have done something positive today and won the money for charities that support them.

Totally the opposite mate. It is geeting easy to be there when someone gets a 147.
But with the publicity, comparitively few will be able to say they were there for the famous £8000 losing 146.

It’s as much as (or was as much as) 100 or 147 grand for making a maximum break at the world championships, not at events such as the Welsh Open.

You can’t surely expect 147,000 quid to be handed out every time a maximum is made no matter what the tournament is.
