I think next time the format should be pairs in every frame. The system of switching players in and out and handshakes after every fram is ridiculous and makes it difficult for players to get a rhythm going. The pairs frames were more interesting because you could see the interactions between the pairs more rather than just sitting a showing no emotion most of the time. 100% pairs would make it a far more entertaining tournament.

Australian Open ... with the time difference, if I wanted to watch a match that starts at 13.30 in Oz, is that 4.30am here?

I like these sort of events but don't take as much interest as other events. Mainly because I am unable to watch any of it live until Saturday because of work.
Even then only the second session. Still looking forward to looking at the results though. |

First 'Shock' of the Australian Goldfields has happened. Newly crowned World Champion Stuart Bingham was beaten in the 1st Round 5-4 by Feargal O'Brien who had a top break of a magnificent 129 while Stuart's was a feeble 51 in a generally abysmal performance.
Talk about coming back down to earth with a bump! |

Trump going well, notched up two tons in leading his mate Lisowski 3-0.
Edit: make that 4-0 to the defending champ |

5-0 to Judd with an impressive 95% pot success rate. Looks like Terry has got his work cut out as Jack's new coach!

Oh dear! Australia's great white hope Neil Roberston in big trouble here in his first match versus Mathew Selt. Matt is 2-0 up and in ealy on in the 1st.
Alarm bells ringing in Neils head right now no doubt! |

A scrappy third goes to Selt and it does not look like Neil has woken up yet. He needs to do so fast or he is gone.

4-0. At least the mid sesh has arrived and Neil has a few mins to talk to his coach and try to get his head together but it's a mountain to climb territory here and it just doesn't look likely to happen.

Well, it's not the greatest snooker ever played but Neil has clawed it back to 2-4. Getting interesting ...

Neil was 58-5 down in the next but looks like he might just pull it out of the fire...

I wouldn't say this is the greatest quality match I've ever seen but it's turning into a gripping battle of nerve
