So we have a semi final line up of

Bingham V Perry
Smurph V Ding

3 of the 4 are already guaranteed seedings for Sheffield so Ding has a lot to play for.

Quite exciting all this isn't it ?

Definitely a massive plus for Ding getting to the semis here. And Joe Perry through too against Ali Carter.

It'd help Ding's cause tonight if Stuart Bingham gets past Ryan Day, AND if Shaun Murphy turns over Liang Wenbo, but I can see both matches going close.
And sure enough, both results go Ding's way!

I thought Hawkins was the other egg? My mind may be scrambled I guess, I can't remember really!

Very interesting Semi Finals. Ding obviously with a lot to play for which puts Maguire into an even more uneasy position, Especially as Stephen is not in the Players Championship!

Would like to see Ding win it, too good a player to be struggling as much as he has this season and winning another ranking event would give him confidence at the right time.

Could be a 'previously out of form' final then as Bing comes strong at the end to beat gentleman Joe in a decider. Was a bit laborious in places but equally quite dramatic too.

Thoroughly emjoyed the work of Messrs. McManus and Foulds this week.
In fact if it wan't for Mr Anal Nerd in the commentary box it would be 10/10 all round from me.

I love Phil Yates me, so wouldn't swap any of ITV's commentary / punditry team unless they had Dave Hendon in perhaps. Agree that McManus and Foulds in particular are class, could listen to them all night. ITV just lack a host in the class of Hazel...Jill Douglas has got better with more tournaments under her belt but her terminology is still dodgy and she does make the odd mistake, like reading out a 4-0 scoreline as 4-1 and calling round 2 round 1 the other night. Perhaps that's a bit nit-picky, but it's the attention to detail that separates the good from the great.

Anyway a repeat of last years world final then, as Murphy proves much the stronger player after the interval to prevail 6-3. If he plays like that tomorrow I'm certain he'll win.

Odd that they got rid of Matt Smith who could cover football, darts and I'm sure could manage snooker and other sports and have added Persard, Douglas, Pouchach, Oakley and maybe some more.

I realise getting rid of Chiles would save some money, especially after losing CL footy.

They are all freelancers. You will see Rishi on C4 and BBC. Mark on 5 Live, Jacqui on BBC and Jill on BT and BBC

Good final coming up hopefully. Enjoyed both SFs.

Agree about McManus and Foulds. Both are very insightful and always leave me wanting to hear more.

Sorry TC but I'm not a Phil Yates fan. Talks too much and speaks in journalism cliches. Comes across as a bit smug for my money too. Agree about Dave Hendon though. Underused by just being on Eurosport

What an awful final - couldn't pick 2 more boring players. Oh, and getting a teenager's hairstyle won't help change that perception, Murphy.

ITV4 is about right for such dross. Bye, see you all for the Worlds.

The excitement is almost bearable.

Subjective matter commentary I guess. Personally I enjoy all the stats and anecdotal stuff he comes out with. Bit of an error strewn session on the table, but Murphy won't mind as he leads 3-1.

Yes, can imagine both players really feeling the tension and pressure today. Neither had a good year since the World Final.

Certainly not boring players, any snooker fan knows that.

What a turn around in the final, quite how Bing's come out on top I'm not entirely sure...

Not the best of finals, quality wise (until those last three frames from Bingham). But a very interesting final.

Could go all the way tonight, looking forward to it

just flicked over to this...as expected, dull dull dull.

Boring baldy Bingham, aka Egg, vs erstwhile fattie God-botherer Murphy.

So the first four frames of the evening are shared, which will suit Bing just fine as 5-4 becomes 7-6. Pretty nippy mini-session.

It's not the best final quality wise but I'm finding it thoroughly engrossing.
Murphy could have a decisive lead now but I'd still never write Bingham off.
