Grahame Dott had a bit of a scrap on his hands today, winning 10-8 against Brendon Sergant.

Bit of an upset as Zhao Xintong comes from 6-3 down to beat Rod Lawler 10-9

All over for Jimmy White for another year.

Gerard Greene wins 10-9.

Shame for Jimmy White, he'll be gutted!

Greene keeps his survival hopes alive though.

D'you know what - I'm beginning to think Jimmy's never gonna win the world championship

He hasn't given up hope. He said he still thinks he has a chance on The Clare Balding Show.

When Jimmy was on This Morning a while back, promoting his book 'The Second Wind' he said 'I believe I can be world champion' This would most likely be because he's been playing in practice and exhibitions. Taking that form out onto the world stage, is an entirely different matter!

During his pomp he had 6 world championship final appearances! In 1984, 1990. 91, 92, 93, 94 respectively. His closest chance was 1994 against Stephen Hendry, when he lost 18-17.

Most players these would be grateful for one world final appearance, but to have 6 chances is something he will regret for the rest of his life!

Even if he had made the last 32 of this years championship, with the standard so high these days, how far would have he got?

He now has one more year on the tour and no doubt he'll be back qualifying again next April!

Ding is making good work of Greg Casey, about to go 5-1 up.

Steve Davis is about to go 3-2 up over Fergal O'Brien - I suspect this may just go to a final frame thriller.

Davis trailing 6-2 to O Brien so doesn't bode well for him, last night Rory Mcleud went through in a match that finished just after midnight. One match today between Mike Dunn and James Cahill could go on until 2am if today's morning session is anything to go by, they only managed 6 frames, scoreline is 3-3

Sorry - just discovered Sean O'Sullivan lost To Ross Muir

Of course this means I have jinxed Ding and he will lose 10-9 to Casey

Wouldn't be surprised if that's Steve's last ever competitive performance tonight as he bows out 10-4 to Fergal. Said he entered this year in honour of his recently passed father, there seems little to be gained getting his cue out again next year, especially now that he's over sixty.

^ Actually I aged Steve slightly there, he won't be sixty until next August, but I still doubt he'll enter next year....

Yeah, after seeing the end of that Snooker Mavericks programme and Barry saying what the Nugget does now. He DJ's a lot and does what he wants, I can see him hanging up his cue for all but Legends events

Second qualifying round starting in earnest this morning. Must be a real test to be up for a 10am Sunday match as well.

Robert Milkins down 1-3 against Scott Donaldson is the pick of the scores so far, although plenty of time for the Milkman to get back into that.

As for Steve Davis, I too think that may be his last ever competitive match yesterday. His DJing is something he does enjoy, and there'll always be a place for him doing commentary / pundit work sat alongside Hazel Irvine and (if he doesn't qualify) Ken Doherty.

Nigel Bond playing well today, leads Wilson 5-4 after first session, possible upset Kurt Maflin trails 3-6 to Zhao Xintong

Good win for Kurt in the end, turned it around to prevail 10-8.

Currently watching Milkins v Donaldson, Robert 2 up with 3 to play. Dott pegged back to 8-9 by Noppon on the other stream, might have to switch to that one...
