...not quite, final agg score 361-337 to Mags and he potted 5 more balls. Probably the closest 5-1 I've ever seen though #keyballs

Surprising result that one, Maguire did seem to return to form at the world cup and seems to have continued it this week. Could play his World Cup partner Higgins in the final too!

Incredible first SF - Jamie Jones led Higgins 4-0 before John came storming back to win 6-4 including two 130+ total clearances and a match winning 90-odd!

Martin Gould thrashes Maguire 6-1. Strange little character is Dr Crippin.

I see the Aussie bloke we see at The Crucible year in year out is in the crowd. Speaking of which where is Zawtowers with his 'day at the snooker" report from Melbourne? Lazy, tight sod

Spoiler tag for anyone avoiding latest scores until this evenings highlights:

Spoiler

Should John the final it will bag him his 27th world ranking title, equalling O’Sullivan’s tally and putting him just one behind Steve Davis. (Hendry still well out in front on 36).

Could this be a resurgence for Higgins after it seemed he was all but finished (at least as
a top challenger)?

^ Scoring heavily and rock solids temperament as always in pressure situations, I'd be amazed if he doesn't reach the latter stages of a few more tournaments as the season progresses.

Unlucky Gouldy, must admit I'd have liked to seen him win. Very good tournament on the whole, managed to see most of it this week as I had some annual leave, you'd have expected some sluggish play perhaps as it's in the "close season" but not a bit of it, standard was very high throughout. The benefits of a much fuller calendar I guess.

Who gets John Higgins's place for winning the Australian Goldfields Open in the Champion of Champions because he has already qualified for it.

As I understand it major winners get the spots first, then in the case of double qualifiers like John cause he already holds the Welsh, they then will start looking at say who wins a PTC, a minor ranking event, to make up the shortfall. Think there's four or five of them before the CofC and if that doesn't fill the spots they'll go for the next highest in the rankings like they did the other year.

This is obviously in addition to other non ranking events like the CofC holder, Masters holder, World Cup, Six Reds & Senior Champion......and any others I may have forgotten

I think the clue is in the title - Champion of Champions, he was runner up.

As TC said it will be winners from events first and foremost.

World Snooker are emailing out Snooker surveys at the moment - at least I have had one anyway. For my answer to Who is your All time favourite player I was torn between picking Ray Reardon (I'm Welsh) , Alex Higgins and Jimmy White. In the end it comes down to personality, career longevity and ability - I chose Jimmy.

Hi folks,

World Snooker announced half price tickets for the first three days of the World Grand Prix in Llandudno, which is 8-13 March 2016:

http://www.worldsnooker.com/llandudn...ld-grand-prix/

It is also now a ranking event this time around.

Having gone to the 2015 event it was really good and the venue was spot on. Tickets with the half price offer are £5 for a single session, £10 for the full day. You cannot argue with that.

Might see this time around if I can do a couple of days and stay over in Travelodge

Well done to Ken D yesterday beat Selby 4-1 in Riga, Latvia including breaks of 77 & 59. I see Ronnie didn't enter again - no surprise there lol.

I've never seen Tom Ford achieve anything of note on the table - til now anyway. However, I always like to see someone win thier first title so I hope it's Tom tonight so good luck to him.

Tom had a half chance in the 2nd but made a hash of it and Barry ruthlessly punished him for it with a 73. 1-1.
