Off the top of my head there are 9 world champions in the 32 this year. Is that the most ever ?

Good comeback by the World Champ to knock in back-to-back 90+ breaks to reduce his deficit to 4-5 going into tonight's session. Looked like being far worse, didn't it...

I think the World Championship becoming the same every year. It is nearly always the same players competing and when has Peter Ebdon being called the Force i thought he had a different nickname

Can't disagree although I'd add robbo to that.

Looking increasingly likely you have to say that the curse of a first time winner never defending the title is going to continue

Yep Bingham desperately needs the win the first two upon the resumption to stand any chance now I'd suggest. Be a big win for Ali too though, so he might get a case of clinchers I guess...

I know sometimes he gets mocked on here but I do have to admit to liking JV as a commentator. Much prefer him to Dennis and Willie as one of the 'lead' men.

Snooker for the purists! I know that best of 7's are the norm these days but there's still nothing like a tense finish to a best of 19 match!

Bingham looking good now having won the last four frames since the interval. Not over yet though of course... Could be seeing the first decider of this years championship.

Just said on Twitter that I can't see Carter making anything substantial... Then he goes on to make a century!

Decider time!

If Stuart wins this he can count himself a very lucky man indeed

Ali was always just that one shot away from prime position to finish the match in one visit there. Looking at the table the next visit could decide it, nothing safe really....key safety battle

The table's got a little messier now - so Ali's 34 point lead is very decent at this juncture...

Make the most of it tonight guys. Tomorrow we will have the haters, slaters and graters on here. By all accounts cheer for your favourite but slating other players or name calling is for the school yard. Keep it there.

That red was practically match ball for Ali - the pink to follow would've meant Bing could only tie - tough ask given the lie of the table
