O'Sullivan facing a fine for refusing to do any media (BBC, world snooker press conference etc) in the aftermath of his defeating Gilbert 10-7....

Just another example that Ronnie doesn't give a (insert word here) about his fans.

Very disappointing... he's not a very good ambassador for snooker at all.

Ronnie does his performing at the snooker table. Must get so bored with the same questions asked of him over and over again.

Unless dotty performs a miracle he's out. Needs to win the final 8 frames to win 10-9

He could at least have told us what a good season Dave Gilbert's had

Yawn! Same old, same old from certain posters on here. Surprised Darren hasn't been in here yet, as he's usually the first to pipe up and have a dig at O'Sullivan.

Noticed there is none of this about Neil Robertson now he picks and chooses his events or when Mark Selby pulled out of a recent tournament? No talk about them not giving a shit about their fans?

Enjoyable event so far with the qualifiers doing very well. Fancied Murphy to have a good run with the season he's had and way he's been playing but McGill put him to the sword. Stephen Maguire has to be one of the biggest wastes of talent there is, no offence to old 'angles', but he really shouldn't be losing to him. Nice to see Carter get through, don't think he'll ever win this but after all he's gone through these past few years it's fantastic to see him back and playing well. Not sure of what to make about Ebdon on commentary; seems pretty boring and monotonous so far. Still take him over Virgo screaming 'where's the cue ball going' or trying to play comedian. Dave Gilbert played superb against O'Sullivan and would likely have beat plenty who do end up qualifying for the second round, whilst Sam Baird showed lots of promise last night against Michael White.

Final word goes for the Nugget and what a wonderful tribute the Beeb gave him yesterday, awkward hug with Rob Walker aside!

That's the fastest I have ever seen Ebdon

1985 world champ Dennis Taylor lost in R1 in 1986 to Mike Hallett

So Ronnie is being told off for not taking an interview after his 10-7 win?

No. Ronnie is being told off for breaking WPBSA rules

I see you choose to ignore the posts I praise Ronnie in. Funny that.

Ronnie has broken the rules. All players have to do it. As for Mark Selby pulling out of tournaments for personal reasons, why should anybody criticise him when we don't know those reasons ? If Robbo pulled out of an event because he couldn't be arsed but then played in an exhibition instead I would call him yes. But I didn't know he had done it so you will have to tell me when

Didn't hendry lose very early one year? May not have been first round and may not have been defending champion, so this maybe a pointless post!

As for Ronnie... He does become a bit tiresome with his behavior but as there aren't really any other personalities, he will continue to grab the headlines in all that he does

Why ? Because I corrected you ? He wasn't told off for not speaking to an interviewer but missing the whole press conference which all players are contracted to do. Your comment was very flippant. It isn't as simple as what you asked

Hendry lost in the quarters the year after his first worlds. Another victim of the Crucible curse

Doesn't Rob Walker call Stephen Maguire "one of the nicest guys on the tour" in his intro ? Always seems a bit petulant to me. See he's been moaning today again. For all his previous misdemeanours you have to say Shaun Murphy is the best player when it comes to sportsmanship and congratulating opponents

Yes he lost to Steve James in 1992, though Hendry lost to Stuart Bingham and Jimmy White in R1 on other occasions

1991, at the risk of sounding a bit of a pedant. There was also first round exit to Bond on a re-spotted black that was memorable, and he ran Willie Thorne close on his debut in round one in '86. Might be a couple more I can't recall off the top of me nog too

Yes it was the first round defeat to Bond that was in the back of my mind i think. I guess that wasnt as defending champ though.

Is the scheduling a bit strange this year? I don't remember players usually having to wait 5 sessions to complete a match like Williams and Walden are.
