Without wishing to be pedantic, this is not strictly true - the Last 16 matches are played on both tables on Thursday: one session from the bottom half of the draw on Table 2 in the afternoon, and one session from the top half of the draw on Table 1 in the evening

Not nice to learn young Michael White is suffering from depression:

Are we, the media, and the snooker authorities meant to give O'Sullivan some slack re his uncooperative and childish behaviour as he [allegedly ] suffers from some unresolved narcissistic mental health disorder, commonly known down our way as being a prize arsehole ?

I agree 100%.
Great win for Sam Baird tonight - I have a feeling that this years winner could be an outsider - but I am probably very wrong. ![]() Found this on Wiki. The full list of The Crucible Curse victims https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crucible_curse |

![]() The reason, as someone further up asked, R1 matches are played alongside R2 matches on that day is so that punters still get a full afternoon (8 frames) of snooker if the R1 matches finish quickly, same for the evening session. |

Some comeback by the Milkman to only trail Selby 7-6 at the mid-session interval. I wonder if he's been spurred on by his mate Sam Baird winning and the prospect of a last 16 West Country showdown!
However, we've seen already how breaks have come at the right time for players, and I suspect that, but more so Selby's experience and ability in such situations, to stand him in good stead in the closing session. |

Selby really struggling today, looks like he might just be about to go 8-6 in front though

At work so not seen any but sounds like Robbo is struggling
Since then Neil made a 60+ break to get one back before the interval and has since made back to back centuries to level at 3-3! Currently Michael is hitting back on 59 and counting. Great match. |

I see Dotty has take to social media to say that the pockets this year are the biggest on any table he's ever played on as a pro 😬
I thought a lot of jawed shots went in that wouldn't otherwise in the first couple of days, but I put that down to the new cloths making it more receptive, so that's an interesting comment Graeme makes. I'm not sure entirely how it works but I thought there was a template of certain dimensions that tables need to adhere to, so when he says 'big' it's open to interpretation exactly what he means perhaps. |

So I guess the pockets are 'playing bigger' but are not actually wider in terms of size... just the cushions are making it easier for balls to drop into pockets. Dominic Dale has been sending me some comments on Twitter about the pockets. He says there are very strict pocket configurations and balls tend to skid more towards the pocket because of new cloths.

Just got in and saw the last frame of the Allen match- he certainly fills his waistcoat these days does Allen.
Healthy lead though but he went off with a face like thunder after that bollox up at the end. Surprised to see Holt beating Robertson, but expect the Aussie to come back as Holt is a well known bag of nerves in big matches |
