Robertsons a gonner, 9-4 down
You can never ever write him off until that last frame's been run. He's still fighting, and he's making very few mistakes.

Why do players when they need one more frame always make it hard for themselves Is it the pressure of getting into the next round. I dont know why they cant play their normal game

Well done Holty, showed some conkers there.

As another seed falls, the record for the first round is 8 incidentally

I hope it's not all the contenders fall early and Ronnie strolls to win hammering an unlikely finalist type year again
Yeah same here. I want Ronnie to win it by beating the best players so it's a pity Neil is out. I wouldn't want Ronnie to walk it either.

This is really compelling stuff, could Neil pull off the impossible?

We will see.
No he can't!

I do hope that Trump and Selby stay in the tournament though, I would hate to see O'Sullivan just steamroller everyone and the final be a total damp squib.

I think maybe Selby and probably Allen will get knocked out next as they have not impressed me

As the commentators said, Holt has certainly improved since he's been coached by Terry Griffiths.

Excellent performance by him to beat Robertson but can he do it again is the big question. Mark Williams next up so it's a fairly even contest judging by the opening round!

I see Dotty has take to social media to say that the pockets this year are the biggest on any table he's ever played on as a pro 😬

I thought a lot of jawed shots went in that wouldn't otherwise in the first couple of days, but I put that down to the new cloths making it more receptive, so that's an interesting comment Graeme makes.

I'm not sure entirely how it works but I thought there was a template of certain dimensions that tables need to adhere to, so when he says 'big' it's open to interpretation exactly what he means perhaps.
The pockets were really massive in the 1980’s.

These pockets in terms of largeness are nothing compared to the 1980’s pockets.

Here is a question for you. Remember the 1991 Mita World Masters ? Biggest prize in snooker at the time ( by some distance ). Was watching it on YouTube earlier

Yeah not only was the first competitive maximum of John Spencer's untelevised due to a cameramen break but it was later deemed unofficial because the pockets were ratified as too large

My album of pictures from this year's Championship has had ones from today's second (and most likely final, boo!) visit added. I'll do a full report tomorrow as it's been a long day!!

Nice to read all your views during the world championships.

Nice also to hear a couple of new voices in the commentary box.

Ebdon knows his stuff and nice to not have an ex player in George Riley as well. My favourite though is Steven Hendry just because he is prepared to criticise bad play from the players. I like his straight talking.

With Robertson gone that side of the draw becomes even more wide open, anybody's guess who will make the final from that side of the draw- Higgins, Trump, Ding, Williams?

We could see a repeat of the 2001 final
