A bizzaar couple of shots from McGill there. Quite funny really

Phil Yates making a good point of Eurosport saying the likes of Anthony McGill is referred to as a good promising young player yet he is 25.

Previous generations of players had won loads by the age of 25 and snooker is not seen as a young persons game anymore

Alan McManus has made a storming start this morning

Won the 1st 3 to take the lead

Why are they so behind Ali Carter on the BBC commentary especially willie Thorne.

I know he has had serious illness like willie but he would be as well shouting come on Ali.

This is why I rarely watch the BBC commentary prefer Eurosport it's less biased than the cheerleading BBC commentary

Ali's hole has got bigger. 11-9 at the interval. Would not have expected angles to be playing like this

Speaking of behind, how far behind are the Eurosport guys ? Phil Studd and Joe Johnson just saying "ohhhh will he miss the kiss ?" After the ball had passed

Good effort by Baird to only be 7-9 down to Selby after 16 frames of snooker. Probably won't win but he's doing himself proud.

Well done Angles.

Some of the worst safety play I've ever seen at World Championship level from Ali Carter. Just not his day.

Alan solid as a rock though.

Cracking start to Ronnie v Barry match.

Huge steal my MJW there, careless in-off by Holty when he looked certain to close to 9-11 at the interval. 12-8 it is though, and surely game over.

MJW through. Could there be a surprise winner this year?

Where's the blue ball going from JV

Ali Carter and Michael Holt both very critical of the table. They were on same one weren't they ? Ali said "worst he's ever played on."

It's certainly been an issue this tournament.......I mean, you always get the odd player moaning about the table or conditions at any event......so much so that you get a bit dismissive about it......but there's been too many complaints from different players regarding the same table that there's definitely something in it.

Certainly the big bounces off the cushions are very noticeable to the viewer at home, which they aren't always when you hear the commentators mention it - sometimes it sounds like they're making excuses for the players.

Ronnie has a game on with Barry Hawkins who seems to play well at the Crucible

Does anyone think Higgins could win the it this year? Would be great if he'd meet Ronnie in the final.

He is at the moment. Provisionally though he's down to 7 I think.

Yes he is. He went into this tournament as world number 1 and he still is
