Trophy presented by Hunter's dad as well.

What a terrific final.

Brilliant, great to see The Captain winning again.
And against the charmless Murphy makes it even better.

You must have been watching a different match to me because the Shaun Murphy I saw was gracious and dignified in defeat. He used to be a bit of a numpty but nowadays I find him quite the gentleman and a really good ambassador for the sport.

It might be in here already but does anyone know what that background to the Michaela Tabb legal case is? I know she's alleging unfair dismissal and sex discrimination but I wasn't aware she had left the WPBSA on bad terms.

Yeah I was going to come on here and ask if anyone knows what the full story is with Michaela.

I know she seemed to disappear from the circuit for quite a while before she finally parted company with world snooker earlier in the year. After the best part of 15 years as a snooker Ref be interesting to know what happened to cause the complete breakdown in relationship they've obviously had.

Guess we'll find out in the tribunal!

Michaela and World snooker reach a confidental accomodation (whatever that means)

Looks like it's been settled confidentially out of court as mentioned above. Be interesting to see what statement Michaela's team comes up with.

Quite a good article here on the matter, gives a bit of background too:

What's she doinig now then. I'm guessing exhibitions and non sanctioned events. Could she do the US Pool circuit?

Yeah I know she's doing Snooker Legends tour and I think she's got one or two business interests with her husband.

Quote:
“Whatever the rights and wrongs of this case, she is missed.”

The above is very true. Such a shame this has happened. Tabb was a very good advert for snooker all over the world and she is missed IMO.

What I don't understand is she alleged she was discriminated against based on her gender - yet she was also fast-tracked to the top of the refereeing tree based on her gender. A contradiction in terms surely.

Quote:
“ "I believe the only logical reason I have been treated differently is because I was a woman"”

But isn't that how she became so prominent in the first place?

The whole thing is a mess. I really hope there is a way back for her - but it looks unlikely.

Still seems more to this than meets the eye, after the best part of 15 years reffing on the snooker tour she decides to pretty much commit hari kari on her career over £1000 bonus?!

No way she can have decided sex discrimination just from that either surely, there must have been some long term discrimination where this was the straw that broke the camels back.

Either way like others have said it's sad that she's no longer reffing she has been a good advert for the game and has opened the door to other ladies refereeing.

Seems a bit petty of them not to award her a bonus because she didn't attend an awards dinner.

Anyone know whether Ronnie O'Sullivan has qualified for the Champion of Champions?

He says on his Twitter he isn't playing in it.

Does seem odd something apparently so trivial led to this. I’m guessing she made a pretty decent living from the sport and £1k bonus wouldn’t really be of any real significance to her financially.

I think they say it was one of the factors but not the only one.

He's qualified as defending champion / UK Championship holder but whether he meant what he said on Twitter who knows!

Next injection of TV snooker is up on Monday with the Shanghai tournament - looking forward to that.
