I didn't expect the Mark Selby - Sam Baird match to go that close - well played Sam Baird. The last few frames did get a bit tactical and it could have gone either way from 11-11, but I'm sure the experience for Sam should stand him in good stead (it was his first ever best of 25 match) and he'll come back in future stronger and more experienced for it.
Like many of us, I also was enjoying Peter Ebdon's commentary. I definitely think if he decides to give up playing the BBC should take him on full time - he tells it like it is, has a real handle on the safety side and also liked the way he was getting excited about some cracking long pots too - just the sort of enthusiasm but controlled at the right time.
In my view the BBC need to think in the long term for commentary to effectively retire Dennis Taylor, John Virgo and Willie Thorne and go with:
Steve Davis
John Parrott
Stephen Hendry
Ken Doherty
Peter Ebdon
and if they can say sorry to Neal Foulds and get him back on board, plus if he's not playing Alan McManus, that looks a pretty good line up to me.
Parrott and Hendry were particularly superb for the Kyren Wilson - Joe Perry match, not having to say too much but just enough at the right time. I think JP was surprised when Stephen actually said the safety was the far better shot!!
